I have no idea how many times I’ve started this programme now - I’ve graduated a few times, but have had way more starts. Tonight must surely take the crown for the toughest week 1 run 1. It’s got to be at least a year since I last ran, and I’ve been mostly inactive since then. But the past few months have been particularly tough (house purchase and move, cancer recurrence, allergic reactions to chemo, and change it treatment plan), and my head has been desperate to get back to running, so tonight when I said I was taking the dog for a walk I actually downloaded the week 1 podcast, dug out some ear buds, and put my trainers on.
I’m proud to say I did it! I swear my legs have never been this tired after the very first run ever before - but I don’t care. I DID IT!
I’ve no idea if I’ll be able to carry on once I start the new cancer treatment this week - I really hope I will, but fatigue and nausea are likely for the next few months apparently, so I’m not counting on it. But for today, this run is not just good enough but is bloody brilliant! 😊

Take it nice and easy and you will succeed. Push to hard and it will be a struggle.
Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.
Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.
Yes, having the dog with me means I do chat to her! She’s very good at helping me pace myself - even if she didn’t notice any difference between my walking and running speeds 😂 It’s not about speed, it’s stamina alone at this point, and that will come through taking it slow and steady

Loads of us repeating, all or bits of C25K again.... taking our time and just letting it evolve... doing what we are able to, when we are able to!
And do you know what... it works!
Just go with the flow... , keep popping in here as and when you can... ( Catch up Corner is a great place to grab a cushion and just rest awhile)!
Fingers crossed and everything else for the new treatment not to knock you back too much... but you are on the way, and it is so good to see you back !
Well done, that's a fabulous achievement! It's great that you really wanted to get running again and you got out and did it! Hopefully the treatments will allow you to continue running for some time. Keep posting!
Welcome back!! I managed to keep my exercise going during my cancer treatments - mostly weight lifting and elliptical. It wasn't easy but it was doable as long as I took my time with everything and didn't push myself to hard. A friend of mine rode his bike 6 miles each way for his chemo and radiation treatments - claimed it was what got him through the worst of it. I just finished C25K for the umpteenth time and am back to running 3 days a week on the TM because of said knee injury. We just brought home a puppy to join the family so I am hoping to be able to run with him outside by next fall. My running pace is slow enough that I can be past by fast walkers LOL. Take you time, enjoy your runs, I think they may help with the treatment recovery. All my best on your journey!
Woah! When I was having chemo I could barely get out of bed for the first week, and could walk less than 100m for the next few days after that! I’m really hoping this new drug will have a much lower impact so I can keep going…
