The big finale - Week 9 Run 3 done!

I’ve done it! Even Storm Arwen couldn’t keep me down. I went out in the calm after the storm this morning and completed the programme, a full 30 minutes of running done three times this week.

This is the new me. Up until August this year I was a very inactive 53 year old woman with a sedentary job, lots of aches and pains, and the most moving I did was to the food cupboard and back. For different reasons i got my motivation to act now and set my mind to getting more healthy by eating better and moving more. By early October I had lost my first stone mainly from walking 2-3 times daily and watching calories so I decided then to get even fitter by trying the C25k program every other day, and in just under two months I have managed to complete it and lose another stone. Throughout the program I haven’t lost my motivation to get up and out each day, and dare I say It…. I think I may have become addicted to it 😳

Thanks to my fellow encouragers on here who have responded to my posts and to the administrators for pointing me to good advice when I needed it.

Here’s my final run selfie from this morning…. Thanks everyone 👍🏻😊🌅

Congrats! I like your taking control and changing your life-style. It’s so easy to stay doing one’s comfortable, all too sedentary lifestyles. But the rewards of changing are so pleasant it’s easy to forget the struggle to get there. Enjoy your rest days.

If you’d asked me at the start of this year about getting fitter I’d have shrugged it off, now I can’t quite believe I’ve made it this far 😊

I’ve found a new me for sure and am now going into the future with better health and hopefully minimised my chances of getting diabetes (my dad is experiencing the consequences of diabetes now in his 80s and I don’t want to follow in his footsteps)

Yes it really is a great programme, to learn to run for 30 minutes in around 9 weeks, is quite an accomplishment!
