Keeping going

I started C25K about two years ago but got knee problems and had to stop. I'm back into it again, building up slowly and yesterday I did W7R1. The 25 minutes run was really difficult but I kept going, although the pace was slow I did it. It is really hard work but I am determined to get there!

Well done on your progress , you are nearly there now with 25 minutes.I hope your knee is holding up !

If you are finding any run difficult, slow it down even more !

My knee has an occasional twinge but I'm spreading the runs out and resting more (I normally do very long, fast walks as my exercise) and it seems to be working. Thanks for your support, it helps a lot!

Welcome back.

Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.

An easy conversational pace is the most effective to build your stamina and endurance........faster is not necessarily better.

I shall give that a try, thank you. I sometimes feel a bit defeated in having to slow down further but I will try that and build endurance.

I had nearly a year out of running with a knee issue but managed to rebuild my knee strength with specific exercises. There is a link to knee and leg exercises in the guide to the plan. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I had to stop running because of hip pain so now I am going very very slowly. I take 2 or 3 rest days in between, and am repeating weeks before moving on. I've just done Week 5 run 2 and I will repeat that again before going for the big one in run 3 :)
