This running year does not seemed to have started for me. Last year I had a bad fall so I have avoided wet conditions.....so not much consistent running this year. A few weeks ago on my 76 Birthday I went out for a celebration 5k and even since my Garmin watch will only suggest 25 mins at a slow pace, perhaps it has retired me?π
Keeping going: This running year does not seemed... - Couch to 5K

Perhaps it's Garmin who needs to retire πI'm sure YOU won't ππ
I just retired my Garmin for a whole week because heβd cheesed me off! Well done on your birthday 5k πππ.
if I can confidently get out and run 5K on my birthday I would be super happy! Well done!! Retire the Garmin and keep enjoying your runs!! π
Thanks, have an excellent day.
Oh just ignore Garmin hamit , it's a tool. If I let mine decide my runs I'd have given up long ago.
Well up to now its been a great help and in general has suggested the right runs for me, its just post me being 76 that it seems to have thrown a wobble so I am wondering if its just run out of ideas for me?
Unfortunately it's probably exactly that. I'll hazard a guess that its algorithms aren't designed for older runners, in the same way that they're useless at dealing with elevation and trails.
If I were to believe my Garmin data I was fitter after a couple of flat road-based 5ks than when I was training for and completed a demanding trail marathon. That is utter nonsense.
Go and run what makes you happy, not what a gadget dictates.
Think I will give it a while longer.
