Top of foot pain

Take a look a these lacing techniques for running shoes , it may help in the future !

Yes I get this as well - on the top of my right foot, it’s really annoying and can be painful. I have had to experiment with the way I tie my laces, and also lace the right shoe up very loosely, so much so that the shoe flaps about a bit. The foot naturally swells a bit while I run so it doesn’t stay loose, but my laces have to be exactly just so! Also it depends which trainers I’m wearing. I hope you find a solution 😊.
Thanks you
I’d be really interested to hear what your doctor says if that’s ok 😊.

This sounds very much as if it could be that your shoes are too tight, as suggested by others.

I have a high instep and can get pain from lacing. . the lacing techniques are useful.

A few months ago I started to suffer with something similar, pain on the top of my foot. I didn’t understand where it had come from as nothing had changed, same trainers, same route, speed etc. After a few weeks of this, my wife suggested I didn’t tie my trainers as tightly. I said it couldn’t be as simple as that…..but you’ve guessed it, that’s all it was. I now don’t tie my trainers as tightly and the pain has stopped and not come back. I don’t think my foot swells at all, think I just went through an over zealous phase of making my trainers overly tight. I guess once your swelling and tenderness has gone, it would be worth looking at how you lace your trainers, as others have suggested.
