For the last couple weeks I’ve had this pain going through my foot (arch, top&heel) I took 4 days rest since end week3 and did my first week 4 run today and it’s still there 😩 I really don’t wanna give up as I love it so much and after dreading thinking I’m never gonna run for 5 mins straight, I actually did! I paced myself a lot better but I feel like I’m hobbling slightly with this bloody pain in my foot , any suggestions ??

Well done so far... take a look at these exercises, they may prove helpful...whilst there is real pain, ease off running and just do the exercise:) The runs will wait:)

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Follow the advice in the guide on dealing with injury. It is not a good idea to run in pain and hobbling is going to transfer the strains elsewhere.

Are you wearing good quality running shoes?

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks for the advice , I have been looking into running shoes , obviously with current events I’m not able to go get properly fitted at the minute, and wondering if buying online is a good idea ?

There is a link in the guide to the plan to a post about buying shoes and that includes a link to a wet foot test, which is a good second best in the absence of gait analysis.

It sounds as if many running shops will be getting back into business in the next week or so and there is no substitute for trying on several different pairs of appropriate shoes, so it may be worth waiting just a little longer.

I changed my shoes after my first run and the difference was unbelievable. I think I got mine from mandmdirect as they often have good deals. Found shoes in my price range, then did lots of research and read lots of reviews. You definitely can do it, just dont aggravate an injury or it'll put you off forever, which would be a real shame. Take it slow and get shoes! :)
