Met Office Issues First UK Extreme Heat Warning

An extreme heat weather warning for parts of the UK has been issued for the first time by the Met Office, and will be in place until Thursday morning. It can vers large parts of Wales, all of the south-west England and parts of southern and central England.

Keep safe and well hydrated. Happy 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Thanks for the info. Apart from dropping my daughter and collecting her from school I’m hibernating indoors ! Far too hot for me 🥵

Mer too!! I’ll walk, but it’s too hot to run for me.

I must admit I’m not walking as much as I normally do but once it cools down I will be back to normal 😀

Indeed! I'm temporarily in NW Wales and have severely cut back on the lengths of runs I've been doing, and creeping them earlier and earlier in the morning.

My original plans were to do 18km and 20km the last two weekends but I could barely manage 5km on two occasions before flagging. Even completing 3km runs has proved hard.

I don’t plan to run until the heatwave is over. In South Wales we’re expecting rain Saturday, I might run then.

I'm hoping to run my first ever "real" parkrun on Saturday morning (in England). It is forecast to be a little cooler then.

in reply to nowster

We don’t have park run here yet. We don’t have many parks that are flat!

If it had been up and running again in Wales last weekend I'd have done the Pwllheli one which is run on the beach there.

Well thanks for that Dave (though I think I noticed it was hot without the Met Office report). I had been putting off running since last Thursday but woke just after 5 this morning so went out then. So lovely to be cooler, though I only ran for about 25 minutes. Good luck with your next run.Where exactly are you in South Wales?

Sunny Swansea.

How great, not far from Gower then. I come from Ammanford but have lived in S W England for ages. Do miss home but am off to saundersfoot on holiday with the family on Monday.

in reply to Jilldiamond

I came from England to Swansea! My mum was Welsh and my ancestors come from Tenby. When the weather cools considerably I’ll try and run on the beach here.
