Public Health England Issues a Warning

Public Health England issued a heat health warning today, so keep safe running in the heat!

It’s 28 Celsius already in Swansea today, It was too hot for me to run, so I walked my running route and kept in heart rate zone 3 for 5.1k. Even walking it was tiring.

Take care in the heat, and happy 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Thanks for that.

It is a reminder to keep hydration levels well up and to apply sunblock......the sun is fierce.

Avoid exercising in the hottest part of the day if you can.

Ooh thanks for this Dave!I am now dreading my planned 10K Music Run in Blackpool on Sunday, start time is 12pm and have to be there an hour before for registration😰

I've read all the advice and tips but it's going to be very tough 😳

You’ll do it but keep hydrated & think of the sense of achievement you’ll feel at the end. Good luck 🏃‍♀️👍🤸🏼‍♂️

I did my 5k at 7am this morning and it already felt warm then, certainly worked up a good sweat this morning. Luckily I made sure I drank plenty of water yesterday so that helped.

Just done my 5k this morning Dave but it was a real battle. Hot, sticky and not hydrated properly is not a good combination.

I wondered why it was a challenge and then read your post when the penny dropped.

Sun in Abertawe!! Are you sure? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, we’re not used to sun here, it’s a big shock to the system. Keeep hydrated.

So hot! I went out early this morning thinking it would be cooler, it wasn’t!! 🥵

in reply toSar9

Make sure you keep hydrated on a run and stretch after. It’s hot out there. 🥵🥵🥵

I can only go out at 8:30am tomorrow (usually try and go at 6am), dreading it. But I can only try again on Thurs (because have tattoo on Friday and will have to rest it at least a few days)

You haven’t said where you are on C25K? Whatever the case, warm up with dynamic exercises and a five minute walk, keep well hydrated and cool down after the run, then finally, stretch.

If you can’t stretch each leg for around 30 seconds, try stretching each leg for around 15 seconds twice.

It’s going to be hot tomorrow, so overheating could be a problem. The NHS has items on keeping hydrated and heat exhaustion. Good luck and safe 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️
