Hi, I'm Abbie. I'm 19 years old and I am trying to get into the habit of healthy eating and fitness. It has finally got to the point where I am starting to realise I need to get my butt into gear and try to get fitter and healthier. I'm currently trying to change my diet and try to cut out the late night snacks... Any advice for staying on top of things and staying motivated would be great thank you :)

Hi Abbie , 👋Its wonderful you are wanting to take your health seriously at your young age, 🙏

So many of us leave it till later years once we have conditions brought on by an unhealthy lifestyle 🙈

Food and exercise are key to a long and healthy life and to take that on board now you would give your future self something wonderful to be thankful for! 🙌

Once you start a fitness regime, something you will begin to love, (running for us here has changed our life's) it becomes more than just the running, you begin to have a more positive outlook on your life and naturally want to eat healthier to fuel your body .. you will want to fill your plate with foods that give you energy proteins and make you feel so much better..

Then there's non Running day's, 😅

How can you optimize your running, well..you could strength train.. cycle, swim.. yoga, Pilatus..lol..the choice is endless.. 💪😆

But guess what it starts here on this program by getting out for that first run.. working your way through C25K ..

What fun you will have.. don't get me wrong..it's hard work..but you will find the determination to stick with it..you will feel the benefits of the changes you make from the beginning 👍

And that's how you start..from the beginning 🎉🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Good luck, keep posting and Happy Running 🏃🏃‍♀️🤩

Hi Abbie, welcome! You've made a brilliant start by cutting out the snacks and joining the c25k forum. Get the app on your phone, put some trainers on and get out the door for week one, run one. It starts really gently. Going out of that door for the first time is the hardest part. And there will be plenty of support for you from the lovely people on here, let us know how the runs go 😊

Welcome to the forum and well done on taking the decision to control your health and fitness. Life really does become better for being fit.

This forum is primarily for runners undertaking the NHS Couch to 5k training plan and many do this alongside weight loss programmes. It is a great way to kick start life changes.........and it works!!!

For advice on diet and weight loss click on the My Hub icon (9 white dots) and search for weight loss.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hello abbie

Nice to hear from you hope you are doing well. Firstly everything we eat has carps and calories which we need to burn. Before everything make a routine on your daily basis food and exercise try it if you can great you will see the difference in your body remember it's easy to say very hard to do I was 111kg know in 5 months I dropped to 73kg do the maths. Slowly cut off the junk food if you can swap sugar to sweetener would make a big difference eat tuna salad etc on launch and 1 hot meal at night
