Distance at wk 9

Hi there

I’m on week 5 and over the weeks my distance has been around the 3km mark. When you get to week 9 and running for 30 mins non stop (if I ever get there) will the distance total 5k? And is that distance it inclusive of the warm up and walk down walks

Many thanks

Katie

Good question, but the answers so variable, it's all down to the individual. Don't worry about that 5klm goal though. Get yourself to the 30 minute runs first.

Hi The distance covered on your 30 minute runs is not something to be concerned about , it is just around 10% of people that will reach the 5k in the 30 minutes , and no, that would not include the warm up / down walks .Although the program is called couch to 5k , the 5k is not a requirement for graduating the program.

The only requirement is that you run the 3x30 minute continuous runs on week 9.

Distance is irelevant.

Hope that helps

Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.

Hi im on week 9 and I've been doing 4.7 km but thats with the warm up and cool down so nowhere near 5km in 30 min run time..i think its more about the fact you can run non stop for 30 minutew than the distance for the time being so don't worry

Thank you well done to getting to week 9. I’m in complete awe of anyone successfully getting even past week 7 😂

Don’t worry about it MS1 - most people who graduate C25k don’t run 5k in 30 minutes; but it’s a catchier title than couch to 30 minutes! I graduated over a year ago and am nowhere near 5k in 30 minutes, nor will I ever be. But that’s fine - as long as I’m running, I can cope with snail pace. Concentrate on getting to 30 minutes and I’m sure you’ll speed up later on!
