No. 2 months after graduation I still take longer than 30 minutes to do a park run. Do I care? Certainly not. I do 30 minutes running 2 or 3 times a week. The health benefits of doing that are huge. I am meeting great people at Park run. I am starting to love running especially as a way to wind down after work. (the loving it bit didn't happen until after graduation). Who cares if your 30 minute runs aren't quite 5k? You are doing something amazing. That's what matters.

Great reply --- totally agree even though I'm only starting wk 7 and not yet graduated - If it takes me ages to do 5k in 30 mins it does but I'm doing something that's what counts

Definitely not. I do about 5k in 40 mins, including the warm up/down walks at each end. You might be able to slowly build up some speed as time goes on. I graduated at the end of July, and I am trying to get comfortable with the continuous 30 minutes at the moment. When I think how far we've all come, just the thought that we can keep going for that long without stopping amazes me! Speed will gradually come with more hard work, if that's what you want to achieve. My plan is to get to 5k running. Eventually. Well done for getting to week 9, you're nearly there!

Nope.....not at all.. check out the hundreds of posts re this:) 5K either happens..( which is not very often) or it doesn't... :)

So many folk worry about this... the name C25K is an oxymoron.. but so much more catchy than Couch to Running for 30 minutes:) NHS C25K states...and I quote...

"The NHS Couch to 5K plan is designed to get you off the couch and gradually work you up to running 5K or for half an hour, in just nine weeks."

Or for half an hour is important:)

If you check out my last post.. it mentions this .." The journey..not the arrival " :)

You are doing well!

I thought I was doing well I am for me was just thinking not sure how I will get to 5k 😊

Nope not at all, you're doing well. I have only just done the 5k and that's in 38 mins... after your graduation you can work on either extending the distance or upping the speed. You're doing fab .

Not at all, I've only managed 5K once b4 graduation because I continued the 30min into the slow down walk because I felt I still had a little fuel in the tank. It's about running continuously for 30mins and then slowly consolidating after graduation to increase time & distance!

Good luck with the rest of the program.

I still only managed 4 k with the walks at either end how slow am I 😂

That's not slow, that's steady. 5k can be a new target after graduation. 5k in 30 mins, maybe, later (I'm still way off that even after more than 2 months).

Thank you that's encouraging I can't physically run faster maybe if it was cold and raining 😃

No not at all, time first and speed later which will mean doing more in the same time. Congrats!

One year and nine months it still takes me longer than 30 minutes to be exact 31:13. I am finding with time and the right training all things are possible. My goal is 28 minutes. I have decided running is part of my health plan so I will hopefully be able to run into my eighties.
