Measuring distance

I’m moving on to week 8 and want to get some idea of the distance I’m running - what app do people recommend for using with the c25k app to measure distance? I have an iPhone and usually listen to music as well as Jo Wiley!

I also listen to music (my favourite playlist on Spotify) while running with Jo. I have just started using the free version of Strava and it suits me well. 👍🏻

I’ve downloaded the free version of Runkeeper. So before my run it’s start my run on Runkeeper, start my run on C25K then start my music! lol!

The NRC (Nike Running Club) app is so, so good for measuring distance. It’ll work at the same time and also will tell you in your headphones when you hit each KM 😊

I use Strava. Just the basic free version. Seems accurate and gives all the information I require.

Mapmyrun, Strava, Nike Running Club or Runkeeper are all good and free, good choice.

I use Strava and seems to be very accurate

Like others I use Strava (the free basic version). It’s great for showing you just enough data and let’s you link with friends.

I use Strava but does anyone know how to get the distance minus the walking parts? Thanks

I start it just when I start to run, then pause when walking. Gives a better idea of pace I think. May be a better way, I haven't really studied it. It does my head in sometimes as it seems to display a different screen for no reason, so I can't see my pace. Can't really fiddle with it when running either.

I think there is an auto pause feature, where it will pause automatically when it detects that you have slowed down to a walk! Might be useful!

I just use the 'workout' app on my Apple watch! So at the end of the warm up, just press go... Easy peasy :-)

I don’t have an Apple Watch, just the phone - might be a reward for completing c25k though!

If you want to be different I use under armour free app it shows me all the info I need. It is called map my walk but it will do a run as well :-) I haven’t tried strava and have never felt the need to.

Strava is great, but I wouldn’t bother paying for the fancy Summit option, it’s too confusing! The free version is spot-on 👍

I use the Activity App which is on my Apple Watch and iPhone.... it logs all your workouts, distances, heart rates etc. It’s strange. The old NHS c2k used to have a distance tracker and it’s a shame they’ve done away with it. I guess they want folk to focus on stamina and endurance versus putting them under distance pressure. Though we do need to know when we’ve achieved 5K 🤔

Nike Run Club. It measures your distance, speed, time and calories used. It also shows you a map of where you have run. Plus you get 25% discount on Nike Stuff in your birthday.

Strava is the most accurate I've used but there's an app called relive thag creates a short video of your run which is pretty cool

Not sure I’m up to seeing a video of my running! 😂

Aw it's just like a Google maps view of your route. It calculated distance and pace too but its just something different from the other apps.

God I don't think there's a camera stable enough to film the streets as I run 😂

OK, based on consensus I’ve downloaded stave and will give it a go on tomorrow’s run, my first for 28 mins 🤞🏻

I have a fit bit charge two - it shows me my heart rate but not the distance - am I missing a setting?

I use 'map my walk'. It gives you all the info you need, distance, speed, elevation, etc. It also gives you a time split for each KM. It keeps a map of your route too.

I use the free version of RunKeeper which I've found to be very accurate. It's far better than my fitbit alta and also my iphone.

If you don’t want to use an app, try plotaroute.com. It’s location based so you can plot a route from your current location or move the cross hairs to any fixed point you want, maybe where your 5 minute walk ends! It’s ideal to plot a 5k route, just trace the route with your finger & you can switch between miles or km. Ideal for the longer runs, you can plot a 2.5k route, then you’ll know where to turn around.

I use Strava free version, it’s almost as addictive as running (comparing previous runs - as it gives you personal best, etc)
