Well thank heaven I was out ready to run with trainers on, music ready when I pressed run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ a voice said β€œtoday you are going to run 20 minutes”!! What?? I thought I had pressed the wrong week I had to double check πŸ˜† but you know what I DID IT πŸ˜ƒ so chuffed with myself I really am πŸ‘

Congratulations on that very special run.

Stay nice and slow for the next run.........it catches out more people than any other run in the programme.

Thanks for the advice it’s much appreciated

Congratulations on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran

Thanks for the heads up πŸ‘

Well done, you should be chuffed πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ»

Am sure there were quite a few with the same reaction as you on hearing the 20 min run, including me (and I’m on my second time round, this time running outdoors and finding it more challenging)

Keep running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ, you can and will do it.

Keep safe

Amazing, well done!! I wish I’d not looked at what was to come - the second the voice said wk5 is 3 different runs I couldn’t resist seeing what lay in store! Have now done runs 1&2, and am terrified of 3!!! Was planning on re-doing run 2 as mentally 20 mins just feels too big a jump! But you did it!πŸ‘πŸ» So maybe I should just try! 😬

I understand your apprehension completely. But I made it, after finding this forum..(before I just kept repeating w5r2). Then I got inspired by others, learned slow running, and allowed myself to think I could always stop if I wanted. But I didnt..and never have since. It is quite liberating. Go Girl!

Most definitely just go for it!! Honestly its not so bad I just kept looking ahead and concentrating on what Paul Wellar was singing πŸ˜†πŸ˜‰πŸ‘

Thanks will give it my best go! Can I ask a daft question - how do you listen to music as well as the app? I need to hear when to walk/run normally so have never had music while running but it would be a good distraction for the long run! X

PollyGray profile image
PollyGrayGraduate in reply to MrsRobbo2009

You just have what you want to hear on your iPhone or what whatever you use. When you press week 3 a message pops up telling you to press play on you music choice. The instructor still comes in over your music to tell you how you are doing and when to stop, start ect 😊you will love having some tunes playing I would find it quite boring without. I have waterproof headphones when I go swimming too 🎢

yeah, this took me some time. Start the music app, then start the C25K app, and their talk will override the music when they need to talk. i listen to podcasts and it works like this...good podcasts get so interesting that you forget the time 🀣. keep us posted.

Love the idea of a podcast actually, was a bit concerned about music making me run too fast and getting puffed out too quickly! A bit of Louis Theroux could be perfect!! What do you like to listen to? I have only just started listening to podcasts so there's probably loads I am missing out on!! x

Buna profile image
BunaGraduate in reply to MrsRobbo2009

Well I'm probably older and longer in the tooth than you are, but Jane Garvey on Radio 4 has started some real life stories which are rather compelling. The first one is about a man falling on a woman in a shopping centre and disabling her for life. It certainly took my mind off running, BUT beware...its only 30 minutes, so I had 5 minutes at the end with nothing, waiting for Laura to tell me I was done !! So look at the length of them before you start them. Have a practice today on setting it up so you waste no time fiddling with the phone for this run,,,,good luck!

I really like The Naked Podcast, though it won't be everybody's cup of tea: bbc.co.uk/programmes/p063wf...

I am not IT at all so this may sound a stupid question but how do I find podcasts? Never listened to them before πŸ€”

Buna profile image
BunaGraduate in reply to PollyGray

if you go to the purple app on your iphone, that is for podcasts. then start a search for anyone you might want to listen to...just type in a name....then β€˜subscribe’ and save....

Woohoo! Good for you! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜„ That run is such a psychological breakthrough. I think that’s the one when I exclaimed β€œWhat??!!” out loud on the pavement, (making an unfortunate dog walker jump a mile) when Laura’s voice told me what I would be doing! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
