Just completed W7R1 Monday morning and felt fine, so off I went for my Covid jab. A few hours after the jab I'm not feeling so well, mild sore throat and feeling feverish, lucky for me it was my rest day on Tuesday. Did a bit of shopping and some gardening in the morning, then gave up and had some Anadin and a lie down. The following morning I felt much better so decided to do W7R2. This turned out to be my hardest run to date. Half way through and my legs feel heavy. I decided to slow down a bit but this doesn't work, so I get back into what I laughingly call my easy pace and just grit my teeth. I think of all the posts I've read where others before me got through such things so I just keep going. Then two thing happen, other runners, coming from the opposite direction, give me a wave and a thumbs up and Laura tells me I've run for 20 mins, my sprits soar and I know I'm going to complete this run. My time may not have been very good but I did complete and felt proud for doing so. After a rest day Thursday I'm good to go Friday and put W7R2 behind me. I complete my first 5k in a time of 35'21" including the warm up / cool down walks. So now its onward now to week 8!
WEEK 7 AND THE JAB: Just completed W7R1 Monday... - Couch to 5K
WEEK 7 AND THE JAB
Well done...just take it steady... your body is getting used to learning all about this new enemy :)x
Well done.
C25k is designed to be done at an easy conversational pace........the one which develops capillary density and mitochondria required for stamina and endurance. Pushing harder can actually destroy muscle mitochondria. Keep it slow.
I wasn't aware of the science behind this. I used to run for my school back in the early seventies and back then you were encouraged to push a bit. So now I know I'll ease off until W9R3 when I might be tempted to push a bit.
Well done, don’t push yourself too hard though, the vaccine is working to help you resist the real thing and that can take it out of you
Thank you
Mind you not everyone notices any difference in the way they feel, I was very tired and headachy for a few days, Willow feels no different after his so hopefully you will feel no different
I wonder if this could have anything to do with the vaccine you receive. I had the Oxford one as did a friend and we both had side effects, his wife had the pfizer and had no side effects. Although they recon only 1 in 10 suffer any side effects anyway.
