Well after procrastinating for a couple of months I have finally plucked up the courage to head out and start this again from week 1
I find it difficult to motivate myself to get out on my own, but don't know anyone that could "run" with me during (or after) lockdown - well who isn't much faster than me and gets cold waiting for me to catch up
Hopefully this time I will not give up and will continue to the end and graduate

Hi Tigger1306 - do you have someone you can compete with by text ? That’s what I do - I know it’s nice to have a physical run buddy, but in the absence of that - maybe you have a friend or family member willing to do this with you that you can “compete” with ? Nothing like taking a picture and sending it to your buddy to sour them on after a run ! I find it really motivating (and a little competitive !!)
I also search for the week / day of my run on this forum and read other people’s experiences to help motivate me - especially on the nervous runs ! But well done for getting out there !! Try and also stick to the same day and if you’re a morning person - get the run out of the way early - it’s a great feeling sitting down to breakfast having that run in the bag 😀
I know what you mean - I don’t have a running partner as I’m far too slow for my Teen, and don’t have any other local options. But what I do is send my best friend updates after each run! And of course posting here to share progress is a great way of sharing the triumphs and get encouragement
My best tip for keeping to the routine of going for my three runs each week (back when I actually managed to keep going for months!), was that it was absolutely fine to not want to go, as long as I still went. I could not want to go while I got changed, really not want to go while I put my shoes on, and Really not want to go while I headed out. But once I got started I just about never regretted it. Just acknowledging the reluctance seemed to take away its power somehow.
I restarted a couple of weeks ago, having spent weeks wishing I was running gain and working out when I’d be able to fit regular runs into my week - I’ll be here cheering you on each time, as will lots of other folk
Not gone out this afternoon as had bad work shift and it is now throwing it down outside, and I am not speedy enough yet to go out in the rain and not get really cold 😞
That’s ok - we’ll let you off this once 😉 Sometimes though a run can be helpful in throwing off a bad day... try to go tomorrow if you can - don’t break the habit now when you’re just getting it established...
Tomorrow then, rain or shine! I have to go for mine in the morning as I have a hospital appt in the afternoon and definitely won’t be running straight after that!
