Well, can't believe I've just completed week 5, run 1. ๐ After a false start a couple of years ago (didn't get past week 1), I've just sailed through to here with 3 runs a week and thus far it doesn't seem to be too hard, certainly not as difficult as the first time when I made it through to graduation. So what's different? I've finally learnt to SLOW down. This morning's run I completed after doing a 30 minute circuit training course followed by a mile or so fastish walk to the local gym where I jumped on the treadmill and off I went.
Treadmill! Yep. That's my way of running. For some reason I just hate running outdoors or perhaps it's just reminiscing of school cross country runs when I was a lad (about 60 years ago) causing me to freeze up every time I try. It works for me and I'm just happy that I've overcome the gremlins.
On another positive, I've managed to lose the weight I'd put on since last December.
Nothing to do with running or weight loss but I've also rekindled my photography mojo, so jus a quick shot from my garden to pretty up the post!๐

Hello stewieUK and well done on such a massive come back! Wow, week 5 and sailing through, fantastic! ๐ I can relate to a couple of things you said - the importance of running slow ๐๐๐and also the slight anxiety of running outdoors. I don't go to the gym but just do laps to the field opposite my house ๐that is as far as I have gone so far, very familiar environment and it has worked for meโ๐ผ Lovely picture! Thanks for sharing! All the best ๐
Hello and welcome stewieUk! What a fantastic post to read! Congratulations on finishing W5R1, well done you!
I do my runs very early in the mornings, at 4am, so I donโt see any people as I like to be alone when Iโm running!
I absolutely love the Goldfinch photo! Itโs great you have picked up your camera again for photography. I see myself as a bit of an amateur photographer but I lost my mojo a couple of years ago so your post has just inspired me to look out my Sony bridge camera, dust it off, charge the batteries and go for a walk to see what catches my eye to snap ๐ท ๐ธ
Thank you for the nudge to go find my PhotogMojo! ๐ and thank you for sharing your experience.
I just decided it was a nice afternoon to sit in the garden and watch the world go by! Well, maybe not the world cos it's only a small garden๐ but it's amazing what's going on if you just "take the time to stop and stare" as someone once said.
I'm not sure what stops me running outside: it could be the memories of school days or just not being able to control my pace. I have tried but just don't get the vibe somehow. Even when walking the dogs on the promenade I can only seem to manage a light jog for 50 yards or so.
Absolutely correct about taking the time to stop and stare! ๐๐ nature is so wonderful and beautiful.
Also, nothing wrong with doing C25K on a treadmill. Plenty other folk on this forum have done it or are currently doing it. You do whatโs best and easiest for you ๐ค if it ainโt broke, donโt fix it!
