Decided to start C25K last Saturday with it being half term, working in a school. Just completed week 2 ๐Ÿ˜ As I skipped a day of week one and have run everyday. Where am I going to find the time to keep this up as Iโ€™m loving it! ๐Ÿ˜•

No no no! Follow the programme and take at least one rest day!

Youโ€™ll fit it in if you really want to do it. Iโ€™m a teacher and single mum who has to balance running with everything else and my sonโ€™s football training and matches. Running is a non negotiable for me though. I generally run after work and at weekends. The programme only means 30-40 minute sessions.

Thank you Tasha99, will try to stick to the plan. I love to walk and school holidays allow me to get out so thought I would try the running. Think I might get the children involved and run the school field ๐Ÿ˜‚

I did a โ€˜class to 3kโ€™ with my Year 6s after SATs one year. They were SO unfit. Some did 1k, some 2k. They got certificates in their leaversโ€™ assembly.

Congratulations on starting C25K and completing week 2 BUT you should not run on consecutive days, in fact you only started C25K last Saturday and have now completed week 2, no, give yourself a few days off running, restart at week 2, only run 3 days a week, if possible the same 3 days, if you run on consecutive days, let alone every day you are risking injury.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

When you run, the impact creates microtears in your muscles, which repair and strengthen on your rest days, not while running. Without rest, repair and strengthening are compromised and injury risk increased.

If you want to be the best runner that you can be, then do non impact cross training on your rest days, which will be far more beneficial than running every day. It is not recommended for new runners to run on consecutive days until they have a minimum of six months regular running on their legs.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks Kaz - I did this quite a few years ago when training for race for life but never really enjoyed it. Now Iโ€™m doing it for myself I am really enjoying it. Glad you are enjoying it too. ๐Ÿ˜
