This is my second time using couch to 5k. Back in 2010 it helped me to lose 6 stone, and eventually to go on and run a marathon.
Running was a huge part of my life for years. Then in 2019, at 40 years old I was diagnosed with cancer. 5 operations, chemo, radiotherapy and being admitted with sepsis (as a complication of lymphedema ) put a stop to it.
But now, I'm back! I'm on week 4, and I've only just found this community - I think it's brilliant. I'm really excited about being able to run again, and once all the restrictions are lifted, to go on and run a half marathon again.
I also write about all my adventures at knob.blog if you like that sort of thing...
Good luck to everyone on your running journeys!
Jon

Hi Jon, just had a read through your blog, what an ordeal! I love the humour you bring to your writing as well. I chuckled a lot. You’ll be running marathons in no time with your attitude. All the best.
I’ve just started reading your blog. Brave, honest and frank writing full of humour, that I am sure at times you didn’t feel but which must have helped you and your family enormously. I shall be back to read more of your blog (I’m up to the first few days post op) but just wanted to post back on here to wish you well for C25k. If your posts on here are anything like your blog writing you’ll soon gather a healthy following to cheer you on. Happy running 😊.
I think there are quite a few of us running after cancer. I run, or should I say ran, with a group called "5K your way - move against cancer" we used to do parkrun together once a month.
hello Jon, I love that you are back running and reclaiming your health! I wanted to ask if you have to do anything for your lymphedema specifically so you can run? I imagine it is in your legs? I got lymphedema 6 weeks after surgery for cancer.. 2019 I swim and love it, seems to be the most effective way of keeping it from progressing. I am now researching vibrational plates in the hopes of further draining the lymph.. seem the sonic low hertz but with enough g force .. I used to run but now plantar fasciitis put a stop...and am hoping vibrational plates will help .. dont know if you have any knowledge or use them for recovery.... ?
