First run after graduation

I did my first post graduation run tonight. I was away last weekend and the heat of the last week just wiped me out like so many others out there so I missed two sessions - and believe me I was missing getting out there. Tonight after finishing working four long days I decided to get out there and see what I could do despite it still being very warm and not being the time of day I like to run.

I ran for just over 26 minutes but you know what I'm not looking at this as though I failed at doing 30 minutes - I'm looking at it as what it is - I did 26 minutes of running - 26 minutes that I could have sat on my backside on the couch because my mind was telling me I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO GO.

This running lark is all about mindset. Change the way you look at things. Don't think of things as failures. You got up from that couch and you got out there. Keep moving forward. Xx

Brilliant Penguingirl, fab attitude! The 1st post grad run on the consolidation run group is 20 mins so you actually surpassed that 😁. I’ll see if I can post the schedule

If you go into “pinned posts” and look for a July consolidation club, the link is on there but essentially this is the schedule:

Week 1&2: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 35 minutes.

Week 3&4: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 40 minutes.

Week 5: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 45 minutes.

Week 6: Run 1, 20 minutes; Run 2, 30 minutes; Run 3, 50 minutes.

It’s for those of us who didn’t get to 5k in C25K….. xx

(I think maybe you’re supposed to consolidate 30 mins first having reread it, ooops!)

Hi Penguingirl1, I remember that my first run after graduation felt like more of an event than my graduation run.

It feels nice running with no-one telling you what to do, free from specific goals, I think.

Enjoy moving 🙂

Very well said congrats on graduating and congrats on your first unplanned run, it does not matter length time or speed but just making the habit of getting up and out there. Thankfully it’s raining today so we can all cool down!
