First run after graduating!

After a very busy day yesterday taking my daughter back to uni and helping her unpack and driving for a total of 6 hours I was pooped last night. Got up this morning and thought 'right lets run right now.' I didn't give myself time to think (always a good thing for me to do) and out the door I went.. I started looking at all the apps I downloaded thinking I wanted to listen to my music for the first time ever. However, realising that I'd confused myself and didn't know what one to use! Sounds silly I know but should of planned it before rushing out the door. In the end I used 'map my run' with my music playing too. This annoyed me as the stupid woman talking said I'd run 1 km after a couple of minutes!! I knew this wasn't right. So instead I ignored her and ran for 32 minutes. At the end she told me I'd run for nearly 9k! I really need something more accurate. Any suggestions where I can use music too? I need this now as I'm running by myself. Thanks all 😘

I use a Garmin watch and an mp player for my tunes. The Sony player is very small, thankfully. Battery life is huge! πŸ™‚

Thank you I will get a Garmin watch. I've been looking, they are expensive but I think worth investing in. πŸ™‚

Well done on getting out there after such a busy and emotional day and getting through all the technical hitches! I use Amazon music, as I've got Prime and so t's free and can create a playlist from there. I also listen to podcasts and audio books too, anything to get me through it! :)

Yes that's what I feel too.. anything to distract me from this hell they call 'running' πŸ˜‚

I'll have a look thank you 😊

MapMyRun really needs good mobile signals to work. I've calibrated mine against Mr JCR's Garmin and it is there or thereabouts on distance mapping, but does seem to be over sensitive and needy!

If you don't do the weird calibration thing it can go awry. Also Map My Run does have the delay start feature and the pause thing can catch you out too. Last week apparently I ran faster than Mo Farah....

I don't like the stupid woman either - mechanical voice lady as I call her, I am sure as a person she is very lovely and all, but not in the least motivational.

Strava is recommended as is Endomondo....

I've found that the Fitbit free mobile version can be quite accurate when there is good GPS, plus if you have a band it seems to calculate the drop outs fairly well once it's been calibrated. I'm sure there are much cheaper options that work though

It was on offer from Sports Direct...not that cheap now..but I love mine... Husband treated me for my first 10 K :)

There are some great offers around too if you have a search :)

I had a Forerunner 10 before ...that was brilliant too :)
