Do remember that an easy conversational pace equates to approximately 75% of your maximum heart rate, which is the perfect zone to build the solid aerobic base required to run faster and further, which is why it is the pace at which elite athletes spend up to 80% of their training time.
It is also the perfect pace for new runners to increase strength and stamina alongside resistance to impact and injury.
I'm a few weeks ahead of you, an unfit grandad, and I'd suggest just keeping your pace where you feel comfortable. I've got to week 6 and I'm loving it - no pains, no breathlessness - just steady progress. Keep going and most importantly enjoy it.
I believe I did The Forum proud. Did Not Up The Pace.. Was fine walking back to the car and then all the way home.. Legs went a bit on the way up the stairs.. but I guess that is normal, right?
