W1R2...still alive...

....barely. Almost finished me off. Was huffing like a steam train. Felt dizzy in the first three lots of running, anyone else experienced this. Also seem to have some sole/heel pain. Is that usual?

Glad I did it though.

Slow slow and slow some more! Week one hurts... it nearly killed me too... but I survived! Glad to hear you’re still alive too. Try and avoid landing on the heel, go for flat feet.

Well done for surviving the near death experience... it does get easier!

Aches, pains.... all part of these early runs.... the body wonders what the heck you are doing!

Slow and steady and just try to relax)

Thanks. I do seem to struggle with relaxing my shoulders. Slow is definitely my pace :)

Just shake them out,,, your hands and face too :) Try landing lightly... run in whatever way is comfy for you.. but land gently.. I call it kissing the ground with your feet:)

Slowly does it, take everything in around you and just enjoy!

This is all normal for a new runner! Keep huffing and puffing through those runs, and in good time, the huffs and puffs start to lessen (as you get fitter). My best two pieces of advice for new runners:

1. Go very slowly. It’s how you build up fitness without hating it! Slow builds fitness, trust that. Key for new runners.

2. Patience. Rome was not built in a day, and neither is fitness. If you can be patient, you will be so rewarded!

I huffed through C25K like a little steam train, but I was both stubborn and patient! I can now run 10km in just over an hour. A miracle! But also a testament to stubborn

For heel and sole pain buy a hard massage ball or tennis ball and roll it under the sole of your foot whilst standing up. Do it quite hard. It will hurt, but it is a great massage for the foot. Make sure you do good calf stretches after your runs, too.

Hi Sadie, thanks for that advice. Good to know that my experiences seem usual. Will try the heel massage too.

Well done on completing the run 👏👏👏

As everyone else has said go slow. I'm on week 2 and just learning what a doable pace feels like (🐌) so keep up the good work 👍

Thanks. Slow is the name of the game for me. Not that I could go fast as my legs are like lead! :)

Welcome! And I'm glad you did it too. Slow and steady, that's the name of this crazy game. Be careful, it is addictive, most of us here are addicts 😂.

Thanks Granz. Believe me I'm very slow, was passed by a couple of geriatric snails :)

I know about those snails lots around my neck of the woods! Slow, and even slower is good...in time you'll surprise yourself when you find you're no longer a 🐌. You're on your way, you're off the couch, yippee! Mind you I'm on the couch today, and I like it!! 😳.
