Feeling a little sore and achey from my first ever run yesterday, any tips to ease the aches today so I'm raring to go tomorrow?

I did my w1r2 this morning and the backs of my legs just above the ankles were aching too from Monday’s 1st run. I don’t know about you but After the 1st one I kept thinking I’m rather looking forward to the second one. I went a little slower and used the podcast music to keep in time with my steps. It did seem easier this morning than the first one and I might be imagining it but I feel rather more alert and fitter today. Go for it.

Thats so great to hear that you're feeling good today! I've been looking forward to run two, just have slight aching thighs I am a little worried about, ensuring I stay hydrated today!

Well done Spurrr7! A bit of gentle stretching before and after runs helped me out when I first began running. Usually nothing more than a minute or two just to stretch the legs a bit. Also for tough runs a warm soak in the tub helps too :)

Thank you =) perhaps I should have held the stretches slightly longer yesterday, will have another soak later and hope the aching thighs ease =)

As well as stretching, walking on your rest days will loosen everything up at least that what works for me 😊

Brilliant thanks, will go for a walk at lunchtime, will take on any advice to ensure tomorrow goes as smooth as it can.

I'd say more stretching too should do the trick - dynamic ones not static before you run though are best ☺. After a couple of weeks of C25K I also invested in a foam roller because the pre & post run stretches didn't seem to be cutting it. It is an instrument of torture and I look positively ridiculous using it but its absolutely brilliant at releasing knots in muscles and has helped me feel much less sore the next day. I was advised to go for a smooth medium firm one to start off with. If the stretches don't seem to be enough that might be worth a try.

This is a link to stretches after running. I only found them during the latter stages of c25k and they do help.

Enjoy your next run 🏃‍♀️
