So this morning I went for my last run of week 2. It was chilly, 4°C but I could handle the cold better than I thought. Went out in a regular shirt with a long sleeved shirt with a thin fleece lining over it and ok at first it was chilly, but after a while it actually felt nice. There is hope for me yet with winter coming up! I can still add a bodywarmer and a fleece jacket, so the weather can still dipp a few degrees 😜.
As for the run, I think I ran too fast. I thought I was running at my good old snail speed, but my sportswatch says something else. And indeed, I felt it in my legs. It was not a bad run, but it was not a good one either. And this makes me again a tad afraid for W3. I am debating with myself whether to just continue on to W3 or to do some more W2 run(s) until I feel good about those runs?
You can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to BlackScorpion, well done on completing run 3 of week 2, take all the runs slowly, perhaps do one more run of week 2 before going onto week 3
It’s your journey & you have nothing to lose either way. 😄 You don’t need to repeat - if you have completed all the W2 runs, then you can trust the program and move on. - It’s your choice. 😄
Read it and I understand. Now fear is a weird lil creature with me, because I have an anxiety disorder. Luckily this 'fear' I feel for W3R1 is more an apprehension and worrying I might didappoint myself. But I think I'll just try to see it your way, try it and see it as a training. If I don't succeed, I am going to try and see it as something to work up too instead of a failure...
I say go ahead and start Week 3! Not all of them are going to be good runs, some of them you will want to tick off the list and just forget about. But as long as you complete the required intervals, there's nothing stopping you carrying on - trust the plan.
And yes, I'm surprised how much I enjoy running in the cold as well - snow and ice might change my mind, but until then I'm making the most of the 'mild' weather!
A couple of years ago I had started a Start to Run in spring. Got to 7K in 1 go even. And then winter came and I gave up due to the weather. I hope start now with starting in autumn going to winter, I will succeed in biting through it 😁
Try Week 3 Evy, as you say it sounds like you set off a bit too fast, you’ll learn from that and next time you’ll pace yourself better and complete the run no problem. Stay positive you’re doing great 👍
