Trying to be patient, but hate being 'a patient'

Graduated in July from this wonderful course, very carefully consolidated for weeks, and then gradually increased distance (only by about 5% each week) and STILL ended up injuring my ankle, JUST when I had reached the 5mile mark (8K) which I was sooo proud of. Not run now for 4 weeks and still have ankle pain.... It seems that I got through Lockdown 1 with 'Couch to 5K' and now I've got to go through Lockdown 2 doing '5k to Couch', which didn't take 9 weeks to achieve :-( Ho hum.

I very lightly turned my ankle a couple of years ago and it only showed up a couple of days after the incident, when I tried to run, demonstrating the delay that can sometimes occur with ankle injuries. The blood supply to ankles is relatively poor and it is blood that repairs damage. This poor flow means that it can take quite a long time to mend ( in my case it was nearly a month of no running). One way to improve blood flow is to cycle, which keeps the joint mobile without heavy loading. This may not be appropriate for all injuries, but was suggested in my case by a physio friend.

Take care........you will return, but don't rush it.

Thanks IannodaTruffle. I'm doing gentle exercises to try to keep it mobile and, as you say, increase the blood flow.
