W9R3, graduation run done but not easy.
After two runs earlier in the week under my belt I was feeling confident on Thursday night, come Friday morning run time I felt anything but, I was very tired before I had taken a step, however the combination of achieving graduation mixed with general stubbornness and not to mention the people I had told this would be the big day, it just had to be done.
Adopting the forums most repeated maxim I slowed it done, set out and plodded my way to victory, or success, or the end, or one or all of those.
An even bigger joy is a friend of mine has been watching my progress, potentially with quiet disbelief, and on discovering I am graduating today has decided that if a unfit plodder like me can do it then he can too. He just texted to say he did the first run this morning. How cool to have inspired someone else as the people on this forum have inspired me.
After 27 runs up and down the same quiet, away from the public, pathway, I now have the confidence to start exploring the big world andI have a list of routes to try out, what a different place to be at considering a list of running options rather than previously assuming death would be preferable to running. Of course the irony is when sitting on the couch you are selecting death as your option you just don't notice.
Thanks to everyone for the inspiration, to those still on the journey, keep going you can and will succeed.
