Still on crutches for second outing, but did 2.38 miles, over a mile more than last time, also biggest step count, slight sore spot on outside of knee where socket rubs a little, need time to get used to leg, was going to have run round dining table but 2 hours gardening put paid to that but no problem, “Tomorrow is another day” .
Just lay here now and left foot is throbbing, not bad seeing as it’s not there! How strange is the human body(well mine anyhow).
Take care peeps.
Good running to you all.

Sounds like your new leg is a reasonable fit if you are able to walk so far on it, and you have plenty of stamina too if you can add on a couple of hours of gardening.. Do take extra care with that sore spot. My worst fear is of infection.. having developed memorably painful cellulitis some years ago after ignoring a sore spot.. If there is any warmth in a sore spot I use a product called Climb On, bought online from sports/climbing shops.. it seems to take the heat away in a couple of hours.. but if infection develops get antibiotics fast!
As a new amputee you may find your residual limb changes shape..so you may need fitting for another socket in the first year or so.. I was an amputee for over forty years before being fitted with a leg that allowed me to run.. Running has a higher impact than walking, so do take care..
I can still feel my toes and wiggle them even though they are not there..😊
Hi Pete, glad to hear you're still doing great. I didn't get throbbing but my leg would suddenly leap about a foot off the bed/footstool (and still does occasionally) - the phsyio explained that my mind was trying to flex the foot and as nothing was as it should be the net result was my leg jumping in the air!!
My sore spot does seem to be improving and I am hopeful of running again in a couple of weeks.
Peggy63 - thank you for the tip re Climb On as an amputee also of over 40 years I do still get some problems and this would be useful to have.
Hi OAU.. interested to see there are other amputees running (or in my case attempting to run) - as when I first joined this forum I contacted the admin team to point out that amputee didn’t appear when searching for health conditions.. which I found quite discouraging.. they haven’t changed it though..
Looking at your posts you seem to be doing really well.. but presumably having the same stump issues as me. I’ve found the Limbpower groups on Facebook very helpful. I’ve also found I need to be very careful with trainers.. they have to have the right heel height/foot drop - a couple of centimetres difference puts pressure on the recurring sore spots.. I’ve now found some that work well both for my bunion foot and prosthetic foot! I run/jog very slowly but I’m hoping to get to 5km distance one day although it seems likely to take me nearly an hour!..😊
Great progress and a lovely place to do it to at Attingham. They used to do a special event there over Christmas but not sure it will be on this year due to Covid. Onwards and upwards👍
Amazing progress again, that's brilliant! Sorry you are still getting niggled by that sore spot - maybe it's nature's way of making sure you don't push your luck! Seriously though, I hope it clears up soon so you can forget about it and just focus on moving forward
