Hello running buddies, as some of you know, I'm a left below knee amputee, well on Thursday, I took delivery of my new leg π¦Ώ, I have been instructed to use it for only 10 mins at a time, so I went out this morning to do a couple of small jogs and walks of just a couple mins each, but once on the canal tow path, that went out of the window, so I set off on a steady jog and at the ten minute mark I turned around and headed back, managed just over 19 minutes, possibly could have done more but there was a convenient wall to sit on at that point, so pretty chuffed with that, now just need to get used to the socket and slowly build my time back up, and then start on my speed.
Happy running buddies π

πHow exciting Petem56 .. donβt overdo it to start with β¦ protect that socket!! The freedom of being on the run we sometimes take for granted.. is even more of a blessing to you.. Enjoy every second as you gradually build back up to your amazing speed and time again!
Well done on your new leg Petem56, I was reading a report on Dunfermline's parkrun Facebook page that a runner with one leg completed Dunfermline parkrun yesterday in 37:38 minutes, I notice that he is in the 75/79 age catergary.
I think I'll have to work a bit harder, have registered for park run, but not taken part yet, I need to practice on hilly terrain for my local one, but give me time.π
Pete that's awesome, very well done for going out and seeing how you ran with your new leg. Looking at that map some of the route is red which means fast π
Great story Pete. Must feel great to be back out there! I do a lot of work with a company down In Basingstoke that do prosthetics and it never ceases to amaze me the amount of care that goes into their innovation. Hope the new leg takes you on many miles and adventures!
Yes mate - I supply the software to them that they use to manage the process of developing their products. Worked with them since 2020, great bunch of folk. Is that where you got your new leg from?
