Laura, Laura, wherefore art thou Laura??!!! I was horribly abandoned not once, not twice but three times by Laura. I realised I had been running for what felt like more than 10 minutes and I heard no Laura, so I took the phone out of my waist bag (polite term) and discovered it had stalled. I started her up again and she told me I had run 5 minutes. I just carried on calculating that she was around 4 minutes behind me. By the time I reached the Heath she was congratulating me on 10 minutes, when it should have been 14.
I kept running up and down the flat path. Since I went out much later today and the weather was warm, there were swarms of people for me to run around. My time on map my walk was 8.2k per hour which is much slower than normal. Due to my lungs there is no such thing as an easy run for me and today felt much harder than Saturday morning’s run. By the time I had run back and forth twice along the path I realised that the app had switched itself off a second time.
I calculated Laura was now as much as 10 minutes behind my running time. There was nothing for it other than to run exactly the same distance I had run the other day and hope that would be 28 minutes. Given the fact I was running slower today, the likelihood is that I actually exceeded 28 minutes as I ran the last minute and a half uphill again. Meanwhile the app was way behind me.
I then started my warm down walk towards the cafe (vowing not to have a pecan crumble cake in case I hadn’t run the full distance, though logically I probably exceeded it) and felt frustrated at not knowing my time and I listened to Laura go through the rest of the run and then I realised the app had stalled for a third time at 1 minute to go on the warm down walk.
The difference with the run today is that I didn’t listen to music, but listened to the Talking Sopranos podcast instead. I don’t know whether that had an effect on the phone’s 4G or whether it was simply having more people around. I am waiting for my FitBit replacement to come in the next week otherwise I’ll have to go old school and set a stop watch. A bit frustrated but I am confident I did the distance just not certain.

Oh no! How frustrating! Especially after it stalling three times. It can be so hard to figure out where you're at in the run but well done for not stopping and I hope the extra minutes didn't leave you too drained. Extra pat on the back for resisting the pecan crumble cake!

("Wherefore" as anyone who had to study Romeo and Juliet at school should remember, doesn't mean "where" but "why". ie. "Romeo, Romeo, why do you have to be called Romeo?")
I had a similar issue, luckily on my warm up walk when i received a phone call. My music paused for the call then resumed after. I kept on walking and walking and daydreaming until it occurred to me that i was quite away from home and not been told to run. Yep, the app pauses for a call but does not automatically resume. I estimate about twenty minutes must have passed before i had realised.
My app crashed in first run of week 9 . Seems to be swapping apps eg Spotify playlists seems to cause it to crash. I just kept running and guestimated.
Absolutely, app swapping I think is the issue. I always think I’m cheating when I guesstimate. I’m going to set the stop watch on my phone tomorrow as a failsafe.
