Week 8 run 1 - easier than week 7!

So I have just done run 1 of week 8 (28 minutes running) and it was significantly easier than week 7. Pacing was the same, weather was the same. Distance was proportionally longer.

 - ran today (Tuesday) rather than yesterday due to a tooth extraction yesterday

 - laura played up and paused during the 5 minute warm up walk so I ended up walking 7 minutes. I ended up turning her off and just using my wrist watch.

 - stopped measuring after 3 minutes of the warm down (so the total was still 38 minutes)

 - running shorts rather than joggers

Maybe the extra day of rest over the weekend helped?

I did notice a really bizarre effect with shorts - the bottom 10 inches of my legs were bright red at the end of the run!

Anyway, week 8 run 1 done, bring on run 2!

  • Well done - some runs are just good ones, and an extra day of rest can be really beneficial. Very close to graduation now.

Ps how do you know what colour your legs are when you have long joggers on - perhaps they're always red!

  • I expect they always were red but as you imply, I simply didn't notice the effect :-)

  • Wow..how exciting...different days, different clothes..no Laura... ! Plus.. red legs...!

Maybe, they were embarrassed to be on show??? :)

Go you... we need a pikkie!!!

  • Your wish is my command (just remember you asked for it) - OH is suggesting you should all wear sunglasses to avoid being dazzled by the whiteness :-).

    At your discretion: dropbox.com/sh/f8bs6si9uy9b...

  • They look a tad sore, were they? Lots of info on-line about red legs...it seems to be fairly common?

    Great legs though :) Thanks!

  • Mine were red tonight (as were most other runners on Aberdeen promenade tonight); possibly still winter up here!

  • Good to hear it was a good run for you.  The end is in sight...     I've been experiencing terrible problems with my phone app - haven't actually had Laura with me since about W3.  The app just takes forever to load and then pauses during warm-up.  I'm about to finish W8, and I've had to do it all via my Strava timer.  I do miss Laura though.  Any hints and tips to get it working gratefully received.  I did wonder whether it's because I've already completed the plan and am now doing it over...  not sure though.

  • Download the pod casts. Can't go wrong :)

  • Sounds a bit  teccie to me!

Are you from my neck of the woods?  Just a hunch, based on your name... I'm originally from South Wales.

  • Are the podcasts continuous music? I like to listen to my own music and have Laura's dulcet tones interrupt occasionally :-).

  • Getting close to the magic 30 mins then graduation yatesco. Onwards and upwards...but slow and steady. He he.😊
