Well yesterday I was really tired and actually ended up having a nana nap about 4.30 for a couple hours. Then went to bed earlyish, fell asleep straight away and slept till 8.30, which is later than normal for me. Woke this morning not really wanting to run at all.
So about 9ish my daughter and I set off for our run together. She is recovering from a nasty cold and tonsillitis so not at her best and my left knee and right thigh were niggling so I was all set to fail before we started.
It was quite warm by then and got warmer. Managed to run through the niggly aches and my daughter kept telling me “you’re doing really well Mum”. And “ we won’t push ourselves too much today”.
Me: “ I know, thanks “ puff puff shuffle shuffle.
All the other runners were running towards us “ good morning” “ hi” etc smiling and running easily like I hope to do one day...... I was shuffling along wishing I was finished and then suddenly .... Lol says “ 3 minutes left Mum”.
I’d lost about 10 mins of the second half just plodding, concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other, and now the end was in sight!!!😁
So amazed was I that I managed to put on a burst of speed and actually run to the end of the 28 minutes and then walk the last 5 mins with a smile on my face.
And I always feel really great after I get home, upload my run and realise that it wasn’t as slow and rubbish as I thought when I was running it.
And also it’s a beautiful day today, the hedgerows look fabulous at this time of year, I live in a gorgeous part of the country AND I’M RETIRED!!!
See? now I KNOW why I keep running 🏃♀️
