I feel fantastic!!

Week 4 run 1 completed today. Absolutely gobsmacked that I managed it.

Slowed my pace right down and tried to really focus on my breath throughout. Discovered that breaking the runs down into mini targets (eg run to the farm gate, now run to the brown car) made it feel more manageable and slightly less daunting. Don’t get me wrong though, it was hard!!!

I knew going out this morning that I had the wrong mental attitude as I’ve viewed this week as ‘be all and end all’ target, and fully expecting to quit prior to or during this run. So, I changed things up - listened to a comedy podcast rather than music and changed my guide to Jo Whitely. Both of those really pepped me up and removed some of the importance I’d placed on this.

Can honestly say although it’s tiring and tough, I feel fantastic, and am beginning to really look forward to these runs. Also, no longer depending so heavily on my inhalers, which is amazing.

Slowing down, which so many resist, is an epiphany for many and the secret formula for successful running.

Well done.

Keep running, keep smiling.

Well done! Really good to hear, as I'll be doing this run myself later today and I'm a bit worried about it. I'll follow your example and try to slow it right down - although I'm worried that if I go any slower I'll only make it to my front gate and back in 30 minutes!

I felt like I was going so slowly I was running on the spot 😂. But that’s still technically running, so I stuck with it.

Well done you. I am the same. I have in the past not been able to control my breathing and this time I am really concentrating on slowing down my pace and breathing. What a difference it has made.

Well done you, I did W4R1 last night after work. I was surprised how far I have come.. I was really chaffed.

It’s an amazing feeling isn’t it?

This program is pure sorcery. I never imagined I’d be able to run for any time at all, certainly not run for longer than I walked today.
