Today I set out on my first W2 run and as I walked to warm up, down came the rain. I didn’t have my waterproof cover-up and wondered how bad it was going to get, but I decided I’m not heading back! It came down for a bit, but decided to give up on chasing me home in the end! I told that rain, I mean business! 🤣 It was nice and dry by the time I finished and I feel fantastic! 😁
Oh and my dread of running outside has completely gone! I have a lovely spot right near my house! That I never really appreciated before, so didn’t think about when I went on my 1st run on the main rd in rush hour. 😳 I’m totally amazed and excited about what’s to come! ❤️

That is a beautiful place to run! I can well believe you are excited about the runs to come - so glad to hear you are enjoying being outside, even in the rain
Yes, converted by the challenging circumstances of no car! A blessing in disguise! I am going to the gym shortly, but just for a steam! That’s my treat for doing it! 🤣❤️
Brilliant!! And I'll let you into a secret - we're waterproof and you only get wet once.
Key thing at the outset is to take it gently and that will get you "obsessed" with this running lark. And this forum is the place to go when you have joys and miseries to celebrate and share. That's how a lot of us "stay obsessed".
You've started the most brilliant adventure!! Keep on trucking. And carry on posting!!
If I don't say "Slow and Steady" at this point Oldfloss will take me into the car park and beat me up.
It's never about speed or pace. It's all about nurturing your Inner Snail. Don't be alarmed if you find yourself running a lot more slowly as you go through the programme.
Sermon over. Now get out there and have some fun!!
All advice is very much appreciated. I am so glad we have this place to share and encourage. I’m definitely taking it slow and I found the breathing tips great too. I’m happy with the snails pace, just soooo excited that I can do it! I’m sure I’m not alone, but it’s a big deal for me. I never thought I’d have the experience of calling myself a runner. OMG!
My son and I registered for Prospects Run the Rainbow 5k in September, so I’m planning to graduate and be ready for the most significant run of my life in memory of loved ones!! 🌈
