Faithless were amazing live at Glastonbury and I love a bit of insomnia, but I actually run in a park and the thought of someone tearing my tights off with their teeth is scary hahahah x and itโs like a life anthem for me anyway, I canโt EVER get enough sleep ahah
I got an app on the phone that tells you the beats per minute on a song. I like to run at about 160bpm so the following are good: two hearts by Phil Collins. Happy by Pharrell williams. Future husband by Meghan trainer. Hey ya by outcast. You can find my playlist on Spotify and see what you think. Not all to my taste I have to say but all similar bpm. open.spotify.com/playlist/1...
That's really interesting about the beats per minute. When i first added music to my running (correction - slow jogging) this week it made such a difference because I 'got into my stride' with the help of the music and some songs work better than others!!
I'm not sure I'm running at that speed yet but when I am I shall be so 'happy' that I won't feel like an 'outcast' any more and might even find my 'future husband' when I'm so much fitter ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
I listen to music at 160bpm too as it matches my pace. Iโve got a playlist of proper cheesy tunes at that pace ๐๐
Warm up walk (120bpm): Shawaddywaddy Under the moon of love ๐
Happy Pharrell,
Hey Ya OutKast
Kids in America Kim Wilde,
Saw her Standing Beetles,
One way or another Blonde
Shake it off Taylor Swift
Twisting the night away Sam Cooke
Mack the Knife Westlife
Donโt Stop me now Queen
Warm down walk: Back for Good ๐Take That
Very eclectic mix!
Iโm just about to add a couple of songs in at 165bpm to try to gradually increase my pace. I love music and it just keeps my legs moving ๐โโ๏ธ
You say some of your tunes match your pace better than others. Google those to find the bpm then find other tunes with the same beats per minute. There are lists upon lists on the web. I noticed that โHappyโ matched my pace perfectly and went from there. Happy experimenting.
The app is called MusicBPM ... tap along to the music and it tells you bpm. So many playlists on Spotify stating a bpm but the songโs in it are nothing like. Very annoying when searching.
Depends what mood Iโm in - sometimes itโs my favourite playlist from Spotify which is a real mixture of George Michael, spandau ballet, simply red, hall And oats, tears for fears, Duran Duran but sometimes I just pick running tracks and go with that.... music really helps me switch off and concentrate on the task ahead and keeps me focused .... not going to be so hot again today thankfully ๐
I listen to The Script and haven't put any other music on ๐คฃ. I've 1 week left to graduation so I'm going to stick with them as think they are my lucky Irish charm ๐
Oh I have 2 runs of week 8 left so prob son and then wed so I be week 9 next Friday x unless I fall into any pot holes haha x keep me updated I do so love to see everyoneโs victory posts and pics!!!!
A mix of jazz, tango and eclectic stuff like Pink Martini. Sometimes it doesn't work out - for example I would suggest avoiding Dave Brubeck's Take 5, not at all helpful for rhythm!
I have 3 different play lists. 90s indie, 90s club anthems and 80s cheese fest. I choose faster paced songs but no idea what BPM they are (or how to find that out!) I need to ensure my playlist is on shuffle and swap the playlists about
Wish I was that organised. Just let iTunes go random through library, which is ever shrinking as phone fills up. Lots of good ideas here I must follow up. Bet some tracks improve performance no end.
What are they into? I feel liked modern kids are far less "cool" than previous generations, in some ways thats good, they smoke less, drink less, take less drugs and get pregnant less, but they also seem to be under more pressure, it seems like preparing for adulthood is overwhelming.
I have a running playlist on Spotify. Started with their fun run playlist which was about the right pace for my snail run. Then chose my own songs that fit well. Lots of The Script, The Killers, Taylor Swift etc
I run to The Script, love their music, I test my breathing by seeing if I can sing outloud! Luckily I live rurally, so not many people to hear me apart from the deer and hares!
I use The Rocky Story (music from the Rocky movies) and WWE Anthology, music the wrestlers use to enter the ring, not a wrestling fan but the music has the right tempo and is varied.....I heard Elvis ๐บ A little less conversation a little more action please....which I thought would be good. ๐
1973 vintage here too. I was a 80s kid, then onto the metal, hair metal ๐คฆโโ๏ธ, grunge and industrial - now much more indie/eclectic. Have been listening to podcasts so far - Louis Therouxs lock down. I completely forget I'm running. I need to get the right music sorted next - some great suggestions above.
I'm definitely way more Indie/eclectic these days too, maybe it's just a 'getting into your 40's' and not sweating the small stuff any more type vibe ๐
