On the injury bench

😢 I should of been starting week 9 today but the dreaded injury to my heel I can’t even say it ( 2 words start PF) so w8 R3 has been put on hold. Should I wait until the pain has completely gone? Or should I give a couple more days and go out and see how it is? I’m icing it regularly, taking ibuprofen and stretching. Does anyone have any other tips for me as I’m missing my runs. Thanks all

PF tis a bugger. I’ve been living with it for around two years now. I’m a barber so stand on my feet for 9 hours a day so you can imagine it’s virtually impossible for me to get shot of it. I plan my runs around when my foot is at its best. I finish at mid day on a Saturday. So I run on a Sunday morning when my foot is no longer sore. I’m off on a Monday so I run on a Tuesday morning when my foot is completely pain free. My last run is a Thursday morning as two days of standing means my foot is pretty much still pain free(ish). I do realise a lot of people will disagree with me. But it works and I can avoid running when my foot is at its most painful. I know people who got rid of PF in a couple of weeks and I know one women who’s had it for five years and no amount of stretching and seeing specialist has helped. It’s a different condition with everyone. Obviously wearing good footwear and stretching does help the majority. I guess you need to find what’s best for you.

Thanks For the advice I’ll give it a couple more days and see what happens, hopefully the pain will disappear and we’ll see what happens after the next run

Hi, Is it Plantar fasciitis ? Loads of us have had this. It’s awful I could hardly put my foot down. You need to roll your foot on a tennis ball, massage ball or even a rolling pin but I found the rolling pin moves too much. You need to stretch and massage the pain away. Best to google it...I was given a massage ball and mine is nearly better. Good luck 😊

That’s the one ☝️, I’ll give the tennis ball a go when I get home tonight.

Yes, you need to do this...at least night and morning for a few mins. Good luck 😉

I’m so sorry for you as you should be on week 9 now. I did run 2 of week 9 today but the humidity was so awful! So I’m not rushing for my graduation run just yet, things need to improve in the weather department, so give you time also to get better. 😊
