Gah! This past week, I've got back into the running, clocking up 3 runs in a week, getting back to how I used to be. Loved getting out, especially at 5am, frosty and cold, but envigorating!
However this past week, I've been nursing a crick in my neck which has followed down my back and has really ruined my mobility. It's a struggle to get out of bed in the morning, let alone go for a run / do a days work / live. So this morning, I had a quick chat with the doc and he said that I should rest until better, and dose up on paracetamol / ibuprofen.
Gutted.

Since starting this thing (only three weeks ago) I've lost count of the number of comments about injuries.
My default position on exercise had always been that it must be bad for you as everyone always seems to have something wrong with them, yet I still got out there.

It does look that way, doesn't it? But I think you've just joined us here at a bad spell, when several of us who worked through the programme during the summer and graduated September/October have now over done things! (Although
That, and those of us with injuries seem to be particularly talkative. Meanwhile the fit (uninjured) folks are out there running and not blogging!
I think the problem is that as new runners the injured ones including myself have got a bit carried away. I think not doing any regular exercise for 20 years of your life then going onto running is going to have an effect on you body. I guess the lesson we have all learnt is to build up speed and distance slowly and not to get carried away over-doing it!
Sorry to hear this. Have you thought about going to see a chiropractor, or a physiotherapist? I have seen a chiropractor for years, and swear by (and at!) her. I didn't find the physiotherapist as helpful or as effective but I know plenty of people who do.
I hope your back and neck improve quickly so you can be out running again soon.
