So I think I might have been slightly over ambitious with my first consolidation run... I set off at 6.30 PM when it was still a sweltering 31 degrees... I got to 19 min and 3k and literally couldn’t breath and had my first stitch ever... Had to stop. So disappointed but at the same time happy that I managed to do anything at all given the heat... Also very strange not having the lively Michael J checking in every 5-10 min and letting me know how great I’m doing. I decided to do a few runs on my own, tracking my own progress and not putting myself under any pressure. No wondering if that was a good idea or not... 🤔

Consolidation run 1
13k in 19 minutes is an achievement! Especially in a 31 degree heat! 💪 Don’t be disappointed at all - put this one run down as your one ‘short’ run per week of consolidation runs. Rest, recuperate, run! 🏃♂️
Wise words 🙏 Thank you
That helps! So morning runs much better then. Thanks
I'm in northern Scotland so can't add to the sound advice you've had from others about the heat but I'm a few weeks into consolidation. I overdid it by leaping from 30 min to 45, got a sore knee, so learned that the 10% rule actually is sensible (see Iannode's posts). Don't be too hard on yourself, us newbie runners need to feel our way into the wide world of future running. I've missed the structure of the programme, made mistakes, tried really good music, tried different apps, different routes and still feels like a bumpy, but exciting road. Don't put yourself under pressure, check out the consolidation club under pinned posts and join the rest of the consolidators as we shuffle, stride, plod and race our way ahead!
