First consolidation run

Fortunately I graduated last Friday, so after a weekend of celebrations πŸŽ‰ (ok, I had one pint 🍺 on Friday) it was time to get going again today.

My first effort without MJ encouraging me was a little odd at first, but also quite liberating in having to decide myself how to go about it today.

After reading the various helpful links on here about what to do next, I decided to head out on a 33 min run, 10% more than last weeks 30 min runs. On purpose I set off a little slower than last Friday, where I went too mad and fast. Although I was slower I still found the first (toxic) 10 minutes tough.

After that , I settled in to a nice pace and was a bit more relaxed....and started to enjoy it more. Finished the 33 mins and felt really good. The C25K has prepared me well πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

I am going to do a park run πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ for the first time on Saturday, looking forward to that ( I think πŸ€”) and I have been advised to take it easy and just enjoy it without worrying about time or pace.

Before that I’ll have another venture out on Wednesday or Thursday, prob just a 30 mins run .....perhaps I’ll save doing interval training until after I have 3 weeks of consolidation runs under my belt.

Happy to take advice from anyone regarding the above, with any tips appreciated.

Happy running πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ all 😎

Ps - had another lovely Sunday roast last night , so not able to set a blistering pace today even if I wanted to πŸ˜‚

Thanks very much Mands50, I am looking forward to my first parkrun, and also a tiny bit apprehensive.

Well done you for getting through your first one last Sat, you did fantastically well hearing in mind the conditions. πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ

Cheers MartinKH - it was hard going but pleased with myself that I kept going & ran the whole time. I’m sure you’ll be amazing at your first one πŸ‘

I read your post earlier on, and you did a fab job there with all the water and mud.

I’m not sure how I’ll cope with running with other folks around me.... I’ve been advised by some parkrun regulars to just not be bothered about people overtaking me and that they are all shapes and sizes. Great that it’s so inclusive and welcoming to all.

Will let you know how I get on.

Thanks again πŸ™

I stayed at the back and ran my own pace. Don’t worry about other people just keep going as much as you can and try to enjoy it Martin.

Great job Martin ☺

I did my first consolidation run on Saturday - but I took Michael with me πŸ˜‚

And I had a celebration of a similar size - 1 glass of wine πŸ₯‚ stuck to 30 minutes on the usual route.

2nd run planned for tomorrow 🀞

Well done again 😊 πŸ‘ πŸƒ

Yes, I might bring Michael along when I go out next.

Have a great run tomorrow and look forward to hearing how you get on.

Oh, and by the way....wishing you a very Happy Birthday tomorrow ....if I got the right day ( from one of your posts last week). πŸŽ‰ πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰

Ah yes you got the right day! Thank you 😊

It will be interesting to see if I can still run when I'm a year older πŸ˜‚ 🀣

Haha. I’m sure you’ll smash it πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

It’s my birthday next month, and I’m probably fitter than I have been for many a birthday.

You, and most good folks on here, probably are too.

Enjoy your birthday πŸŽ‚
