So tonight was my first consolidation run, I chose not to have it guided with a coach but try teach myself to look at my watch and keep track my own way, just listening to music.
First mile was probably my fastest mile to date being in the 13 minute per mile mark although I found this run really quite challenging I’m not quite sure what it was but I definitely found this run a lot harder than any others including the 5K run I decided to give myself a go with on Wednesday which averaged at around 15 minutes 30 seconds per mile.
Feeling okay with the outcome of the run, trying not to feel too disheartened at the fact that I feel like I could collapse and take the positive from it that the first mile was my fastest yet.
I think I’m going to put it down to lack of hydration and energy, I haven’t ate the best today or hardly anything and didn’t drink much water also my sleep been a bit out of sync.
On the running train again to the next station week 1 run 2 🏃🏼♀️❤️🙌🏼👌🏼🥳💪🏼👌🏼

Just remember that consolidation is just that – consolidation. The general idea is to try to get yourself comfortable with running for 30 minutes, not to try to improve at this stage.
There will be plenty of time soon to start working on increasing your speed and/or your distance. And if you work on distance, it is sensible to stick to the recommended advice of only increasing mileage by 10% per week.
You have done so well to get this far, you don’t want to risk spoiling it now with an injury.
Congratulations on your graduation, happy running!
I didn’t intentionally run quicker, as my second mile was more or less around my usual pace mark, I think it was a mixture of things that contributed to everything with the run.
I’m feeling alright today though, same as I usually would after a run so no damage done running that little bit faster, but yes the general idea is to learn to run it comfortably, My aim after consolidation is the 5K mark.
That’s good, was just a little worried for you, it would just be the worst thing to get injured right after graduation!
It’s so tempting to keep pushing but it was ages before I was ready to even think about that. Three years on I can now run 4 miles on a good day but it still takes me the best part of an hour to do it! And I don’t care!
Hahah yesterday didn’t seem like a push - From the start I seemed to be struggling, was only the last 10 minutes that I felt sort of comfortable. I do genuinely think that was because of everything like the poor sleep routine, lack of water I had yesterday and lack of nutrition. I know your body struggles to function without all of though’s anyway and then to add a run into the equation hahaha 😂
Yeah I’m not really worried about my time, as my goal ideally is the great north run if it still goes ahead, which is in September and that’s half a marathon as I signed up in February. I’m just trying to work my way to that goal, I’m aiming for the consolidation runs for 3 weeks first then, aiming to move on to the 5K to 10K app.🤩🥳🙌🏼❤️
Thank you! I did look at the post initially after graduating but think I’ll go back and have another look! I’m feeling better and plan to do my second run tomorrow thanks for the tips and advice!
