W6R2: Don't tread on the slugs

Time: 7.20am. Weather: 17°C, Overcast, Very damp.

Hard going in the damp.

Another run to extend the overall time. This adds two minutes of running time to the previous session. It's also the last run with intervals.

At the start of the first run, my shin muscles were feeling a little tight, but that passed.

Hard going due to the humidity. And because of the recent rain there were a lot of little slugs littering the pavements.

I was flagging towards the end of the running segments. The first one ended with the steepest part of the incline. The second one because I was getting tired. I did try to maintain pace and cadence (apparently 160/min).

I fought a stitch which wanted to develop about half way through the second run. It passed after about a minute.

I got a running watch yesterday, so was trying that out during this run.

(Ignore the top speed in the image above. It's GPS jitter.)

Stats:

Distance: 4.51km including walks

Paces for running sections: 6'24" and 6'08"/km.

Ta! I'm now looking at Saturday morning's weather forecast and hoping it's not going to be too hot and humid in the morning.

yeah definitely!! I for one am not running in 27 degrees or hotter so the run will have to be early!

Great work! I find this detailed running stats and extended account of your experience so useful. What type of running watch did you get, nowster, If I may ask?

In the end, I got a Garmin Vivoactive 3. I don't need it to hold music. My phone does that.

I set an "activity" on the watch appropriate to today's run to get the splits data. I won't need to do that from the next run: no more intervals.

The stats image is from my existing app, FitoTrack.

I probably am still going too fast according to the recommendations, though. I can't help it if I've got ostrich legs. (No, I'm not Bernie Clifton.)

It's not too quick if it feels comfortable for you! Also I just googled Bernie Clifton and nearly spat out my coffee!

Well done on your run. Great pace. What are you using to get the stats in the pic? As you don’t need to now as everything will come up on garmin connect 👍🏽 you can also sync to Strava if you want 👍🏽
