Well done on R2! Pain could be the start of shin splints Which you could google for intervention methods. I know Buddy34 can recommend a YT video..... 😁

Follow the advice in the guide to the plan on minimising impact and stretch after every run.

Stretching immediately after every run, nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/h... while muscles are still warm and supple, pulls out contractions, avoiding carrying tensions into the next run and also improves recovery by improving blood flow, as recommended in the guide to the plan.

Many people do not hold their stretches for long enough or put enough effort in. Hold post run stretches for 30 seconds and make sure the pull is strong enough to be on the verge of discomfort.

Copy the advise from Iannoda Truffe re stretching.

Sounds like it could be the start of shin splints but am sure others will have more advice.

I also had this at the beginning, and last time I tried it I ended up with shin splints so was very worried. I actually moved myself onto the road after reading on here that uneven ground can cause it. I’ve found it actually helped, even though I wouldn’t recommend it in a busy area of course! I run very early in the morning and go back on the pavement for the walk sessions. I think they’ve got stronger as I’ve carried on. I was suffering a little knee pain aswell so I bought some insoles for my trainers for knee, ankle and shin pain and they seem to have helped aswell even though uncomfortable to start with.

Follow the links given, for the exercises.... and take it gently...we do expect normal aches and pains when beginning this...:)

Plenty of leg exercises as well on the strength and flex forum:)
