Second 5k since graduation

So on my graduation run I pushed on and got 5k.... I felt I pushed too hard and for the next few consolidation runs kept to 30mins.... I had a hip/back issue so took it steady BUT

This week 2 of my 3 runs have been 5k the first one the absolutely exact same time as week 9 run 3. I found this run so emotionally and physically taxing I was disappointed I didn’t even shed a minute despite being 4 weeks down the line almost.... to top it off although both apple and Nike Tracked the run at 5K strava disagreed 🤬

Today I did my next 5K it was hard as it was HOT but you know what??? I only went and shaved a minute off my 5k time on a much tougher route with much more incline! Inspired again!

So from wondering why am I bothering I’m not getting any better to this is amazing I can do it!

Don’t judge your journey by one run! Your next one may just be your best yet!

That's great running and great advice. It's easy to get hung up if you have a " bad" run but glad you've seen the other side 👍😁

Thank you.... it’s so easy to beat ourselves up if we don’t keep improving like we are robots instead of humans.

I actually am looking forward to my next run again now 😍

Thank you 😊 that’s super advice right there!! I did my 1st consolidation run today and did the 5k but I actually took longer! I was disappointed at first then realised that I perhaps enjoyed it more 🤷🏻‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️ I was telling myself to chill & enjoy the run

Absolutely when I run slower it’s a much happier affair. I think I’m going to do a bit of heart rate based training soon to try and run for longer (probably not as far though) the old..... run slower to get faster plan.

I think it's important too to mix the runs up a bit. A slow long run and then maybe one based on intervals for speed and then maybe a 5k type park run. That way you're building on both speed and stamina and thereby benefitting more😀
