5k second time round

Hi everyone. I started couch to 5k last year and got to about week 3 or 4. It was difficult and a lot harder than I expected. I was more unfit than I imagined. I then stopped because the weather was rubbish and I lost motivation. This year with renewed determination I started again from week 2 and I am now on the second to last week doing 28 minute runs. I never thought I would get here. So close to 5k. In fact I am taking part in an organised 5k run this weekend in Leeds. My advise is simply to stick with it and push yourself to get to the end. I will be pushing myself to 5k very soon, though at my pace I will be running for about 34 minutes. More than I have managed so far. It is all worth it as far as I'm concerned.

That’s fantastic! Sign up to races. Do parkrun. Join a club. Mixing it up keeps me motivated. Well done.

Thanks for the ideas. Think I might try that out. My son is 11 and runs 5k in about 27 minutes or thereabout. I can't keep up with him, yet, lol.

Thanks. I can't wait. Think I am hooked on running now. No turning back. Will need proper running gear to get me through the winter.

Keep an eye on special deals for running gear in ALDI and LIDL and good gear too at good prices in Sports Direct. No need to spend a fortune. 👍

You're welcome. I have found it difficult but I feel great afterwards. I think anyone can do it if they have the will to push on. Best of luck 👍😀

Excellent! You’re so close! I’m in Leeds too: what’s your event? It’s Grim Up North are great for really friendly and smallish races. Enjoy it 👍

It's Spirit of Wipro at Roundhay Park. They organise the run every year. Should be good. The goal is just to finish, haha.

34 minutes will be a very respectable time for 5K (it's what I run 5K in!). Well done in keeping at it - and good luck in Leeds! 🤞👍😀
