Graduation (and 5k!)

After a couple of days alcohol induced lay off (never again etc!), I finally got out and did W9R3 today and so I guess I have now officially graduated!!!

Not only did I make the 30 minutes, but I carried on for a total of 35.49 and managed to hit the magical 5k. I actually think it made the run itself easier, because I didn't find it too hard to get to the 30, knowing that it wasn't the finish line. I carried on through the cool down walk, plus a little further.

For my cool down walk, I listened to a bit of Week One again and couldn't believe the build up Laura gave just to run a minute and how hard it seemed at the time. It just proves to any new starter that, no matter how tough the early weeks can be, if you trust the course, you WILL get there! It was also nice to be walking in the sun, listening to the podcast that reminded me of dark, drizzly mornings, when it all started. I really can't believe that I struggled to walk 500m a couple of months ago and yet I'm now about to start Bridge to 10k.

As a little aside, going back to Week One, I got to listen to 'This is the Greatest Day' again, which, as the first song, I think they should have repeated for the end of Week 9. :0)

Oh, what a big smile that's given me! Yes, I heard the beginning of week 1 after the end of my graduation run, and it really did underline just how far this programme takes us. New starters take note!

Brilliant work, WePre, and just listen to what you said about getting to 5k, " I actually think it made the run itself easier, because I didn't find it too hard to get to the 30, knowing that it wasn't the finish line."

What amazing anti-gremln talk! Wooooo hooooooo! Join the party (but maybe go a bit easy on the drinks! ;) Congratulations!

Thanks all! Not just for today, but for the last 9 weeks or so.

I'll certainly be taking it easy on the alcohol!

Congratulations and good luck for the bridge to 10k!

Being a fairly new starter (w3r1) reading this gives me so much confidence.

Thanks Ruby. Just be sure to keep us all updated, so I can return the compliment in 7 weeks, or so. :0)
