How on earth have I managed to get to week 9?!? Before starting this programme I absolutely DESPISED running- I was adamant that Iโ€™m not a runner, I will never be a runner and quite frankly I just donโ€™t like running๐Ÿ˜‚ Who knew a global pandemic and a national lockdown is what it would take to persuade me to give running a go๐Ÿคฃ

Run 2 today wasnโ€™t my best run, but I still plodded on to the end๐Ÿ˜Š My motivation levels were a little low today, perhaps due to the fact that it took me about 15 minutes to find somewhere to park, and then my wonderful parking experience was accompanied by a lovely scratched alloy๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ฉ So by the time I gave up and plonked my car into some trees at the side of the car park, I really REALLY could not be bothered.

Anyways... back to the run๐Ÿคฃ I think I started off pretty well, but my energy levels dropped quite quickly! I was also running solo today which probably didnโ€™t help. I couldnโ€™t really get into a rhythm, (normally I donโ€™t have a problem with this) and my legs felt so heavy!!!

I also should mention that after my run my left shin started to hurt and felt really tight- I got home about 10 minutes ago and it still feels tender! Has anyone else had any issues with this? Iโ€™ve had plenty of problems with sore and achy calves but never my shins!

Iโ€™m hoping to complete run 3 on Friday if all goes to plan- Iโ€™m so so close to the finish line now, it feels so exciting and a little bit emotional but I CANNOT WAIT FOR FRIDAY!!!๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ

You've got this wrapped up. Stay strong and get that shiny badge. I'm going for mine on Saturday and treating myself to a pair of decent running shoes..๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿท๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜

I wasnโ€™t sure whether or not I should do it on Saturday- with my shin playing up I canโ€™t decide whether I should take an extra rest day or not๐Ÿ˜ฉ I think Iโ€™ll just see how Iโ€™m feeling Friday but Iโ€™m sure Iโ€™ll be fine๐Ÿ˜Š

All the best for your graduation run!๐Ÿ˜ƒ Youโ€™ll be ready to tackle the running world in your sparkly new running shoes!๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿฅณ

I'd have a good soak in a nice hot bath and make sure you're hydrated enough. It's been hot here today but I always run first thing in the morning now nice and early. Like the coolness and the solitude and come back for breakfast lol๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

I think I might just do that!๐Ÿ˜„ Iโ€™m the opposite- I love an evening run, I always seem to run better around 6/7pm ish! I ran at about half 2 today, which I knew would be a mistake๐Ÿคฃ

Good work! Rest that leg and hopefully it settles for run 3 ๐Ÿ˜Š. I used to get achey shins and they really improved when I got some new and more supportive trainers

Iโ€™m going to invest in some proper trainers soon and get a gait analysis (I think thatโ€™s what itโ€™s called๐Ÿคฃ) Iโ€™m sure itโ€™ll be fine by Friday, I can always take an extra rest day if not and graduate Saturday instead ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช I felt exactly the same when I started and now at wk3 6 r3 feels fantastic. Yrs I had the aches and pains, however I remember the advice I got from this site was to stretch before you start and when you finish. Sometimes my legs feel heavy but i slow down which works for me. Shin pain not sure about that one. Hope it helps. Well done again. I can't wait till I get to week 9. Although dreading the next run of 20mins. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Well done, really almost there, last stretch and you are goong to get it ๐Ÿ˜Š I've heard that painful shins may be caused by not too good cushioning in the shoes or in the wrong foot landing technique

Wow!...look at that run! Distance and pace!.. Nothing is going to stop you from graduating!.. you will smash it!

Well done lovely!.... So excited for you!

I had achy calves before my graduation run ..but not shins so can't suggest anything!....

I can't wait to read your graduation post!... It's going to be brilliant!

:-) :-) :-)

What will you treat yourself to - your graduation present!?

I was really surprised with my pace! Because my legs felt so heavy it felt like a very slow run, I do always speed up quite a lot for the last few minutes so I think that makes it seem like Iโ€™m faster than I actually am๐Ÿคฃ

I would love to be able to plod on tomorrow and push to 5km but Iโ€™m not sure my achy legs will allow it๐Ÿ˜‚

Iโ€™ve actually treated myself to a nice new pair of leggings for tomorrowโ€™s run!๐Ÿ˜ƒ Next on the shopping list...a proper pair of runner trainers๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ˜

donโ€™t push too hard!.. donโ€™t want to be injured.. this run is all about crossing that virtual finish line ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

You have all the time in the world to improve pace ...
