I have been walking round singing about Julie today...I don't think I am going to be able to let her go!! The past couple of weeks, my Tuesday runs have been a struggle. Late nights on the Monday really seem to affect me. Well last night I had a fairly good night's sleep and although I had my normal pre-run jitters (who know how I will feel if I ever take part in a race), I set off about 10.30. It was bright, sunny and a bit breezy. My first quandary was would I be warm enough in my vest, but 10 mins later that wasn't a worry anymore.
After Sunday's 5k, I had decided to take it a bit steadier today and only run the 30 mins. Had a nice steady pace of 7.22 and managed just over 4k. Wanted to make sure I am fit for my graduation run on Thursday.
Inspired by others on here, I have found a local beginners running group through Run England. Sounds like it is mainly women and only started a couple of weeks ago. I will be off to that next Monday.
I am looking forward to graduating, but also feel a little apprehensive. The progress through the programme has really motivated me to get out there each week. I just hope that with a running group and getting to a park run, I will keep building on my progress

Congratulations on reaching the final run of this fantastic programme. Enjoy the feeling when you finish and plan and keep running a part of your routine.
Oh congrats on getting to your final run. I found it very emotional after I finished my last run (had a little cry on my warm down walk) and it just shows how much this can mean to us. I got a little 'lost' after I graduated and really used this forum to keep me going and respark my enthusiasm. Hopefully your running group, which sounds fab, will do that for you as well.
I think I will feel the same. This has been my 3rd attempt at this and I am really pleased to have nearly completed it. I will make sure I will stay in touch on here - as you say there is so much enthusiasm and lots of good ideas. I want to be able to give the same encouragement to those just starting out as I have received from everyone on here. Thank you and I hope you are getting on well with your running again :0)
I'm sure you will. You've come this far so just keep going. Make it a habit. Not to say that it shouldn't be fun though. I think joining the running group is a good plan but you can still get out there on your own to suit yourself.
Running in winter is harder as you have a narrower window of opportunity to get out during daylight, or you end up running in the dark. I don't mind it and I found it wonderful at Christmas when my jog leader took us a run up a road where the householders all had a decorated tree in their bay windows. It was magical and we would have missed it had we not been running in the evening.
I will definitely want to keep running on my own. That is probably one of the things I enjoy about running - time on my own! I am lucky that I am not working at the moment so can grab the opportunity to get outside if the weather is good during the day, or use my treadmill.
Well done on joining the running group. I'll be interested to read how it goes. I'm not much of a joiner of groups so will probably rely on a couple of parkruns a month and carry on running on my own. I'd love to have one or two people to run with (anyone out there near Stratford-upon-Avon who runs at roughly the same slow pace as me?), but I don't really feel comfortable in larger groups.
I am not normally a joiner, but I thought it would help encourage me to keep running. Also need to meet some more people I think. I have suggested to my son that he could come out with me, but he runs at probably twice my pace! Yes another early tonight I think ;0) (had an early start today!)
