How on earth have I managed to get to week 9?!? Before starting this programme I absolutely DESPISED running- I was adamant that Iโm not a runner, I will never be a runner and quite frankly I just donโt like running๐ Who knew a global pandemic and a national lockdown is what it would take to persuade me to give running a go๐คฃ
Run 2 today wasnโt my best run, but I still plodded on to the end๐ My motivation levels were a little low today, perhaps due to the fact that it took me about 15 minutes to find somewhere to park, and then my wonderful parking experience was accompanied by a lovely scratched alloy๐ญ๐ฉ So by the time I gave up and plonked my car into some trees at the side of the car park, I really REALLY could not be bothered.
Anyways... back to the run๐คฃ I think I started off pretty well, but my energy levels dropped quite quickly! I was also running solo today which probably didnโt help. I couldnโt really get into a rhythm, (normally I donโt have a problem with this) and my legs felt so heavy!!!
I also should mention that after my run my left shin started to hurt and felt really tight- I got home about 10 minutes ago and it still feels tender! Has anyone else had any issues with this? Iโve had plenty of problems with sore and achy calves but never my shins!
Iโm hoping to complete run 3 on Friday if all goes to plan- Iโm so so close to the finish line now, it feels so exciting and a little bit emotional but I CANNOT WAIT FOR FRIDAY!!!๐๐๐๐ฅณ๐ฅณ

You've got this wrapped up. Stay strong and get that shiny badge. I'm going for mine on Saturday and treating myself to a pair of decent running shoes..๐๐๐ท๐๐
I wasnโt sure whether or not I should do it on Saturday- with my shin playing up I canโt decide whether I should take an extra rest day or not๐ฉ I think Iโll just see how Iโm feeling Friday but Iโm sure Iโll be fine๐
All the best for your graduation run!๐ Youโll be ready to tackle the running world in your sparkly new running shoes!๐๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฅณ
I'd have a good soak in a nice hot bath and make sure you're hydrated enough. It's been hot here today but I always run first thing in the morning now nice and early. Like the coolness and the solitude and come back for breakfast lol๐๐๐
I think I might just do that!๐ Iโm the opposite- I love an evening run, I always seem to run better around 6/7pm ish! I ran at about half 2 today, which I knew would be a mistake๐คฃ
Good work! Rest that leg and hopefully it settles for run 3 ๐. I used to get achey shins and they really improved when I got some new and more supportive trainers
Iโm going to invest in some proper trainers soon and get a gait analysis (I think thatโs what itโs called๐คฃ) Iโm sure itโll be fine by Friday, I can always take an extra rest day if not and graduate Saturday instead ๐
Well done. ๐๐๐ช I felt exactly the same when I started and now at wk3 6 r3 feels fantastic. Yrs I had the aches and pains, however I remember the advice I got from this site was to stretch before you start and when you finish. Sometimes my legs feel heavy but i slow down which works for me. Shin pain not sure about that one. Hope it helps. Well done again. I can't wait till I get to week 9. Although dreading the next run of 20mins. ๐
Well done, really almost there, last stretch and you are goong to get it ๐ I've heard that painful shins may be caused by not too good cushioning in the shoes or in the wrong foot landing technique
I was really surprised with my pace! Because my legs felt so heavy it felt like a very slow run, I do always speed up quite a lot for the last few minutes so I think that makes it seem like Iโm faster than I actually am๐คฃ
I would love to be able to plod on tomorrow and push to 5km but Iโm not sure my achy legs will allow it๐
Iโve actually treated myself to a nice new pair of leggings for tomorrowโs run!๐ Next on the shopping list...a proper pair of runner trainers๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐
