My first post here . Hoping a running sage can help me . So myself and partner have been doing the C25K together, I have the headphones and just repeat the Sarah M cues when we run , walk etc . I have only glanced at the breakdown of the runs which resulted in W5 run 3 coming as a shock , not realising it was going to be 20 mins , anticipating a cue to stop and walk . Anyhow we both stopped twice and walked for around a minute both times . So now we feel disappointed... so do you think we should repeat run 3 , or just continue with the program?
We had done so well up to this point ... now a bit disappointed.... your thoughts appreciated

I would definitely repeat the 3rd run...... until you have both run for 20 minutes..... reason being that its the first major uplift in run time... and from then on it does run for longer... If you don't i fear you may struggle...... with the weeks that follow
Just slow right down... 20 mins felt a lot to me too... i already thought i ran slow but i found an even slower slow..... but its the finishing it and running/jogging/slowly for 20 mins that counts.... Best of luck and i look forward to reading your post to say you smashed it!
Well done on getting to week 5 tho- thats great!....
Rest day!... aww no worries- will help if i can.. I"m no expert but if you did it today then give yourself a rest day!... ..set yourself up for success... and SLOW!.. promise ... you got this!
This run was my nemesis - it got in my head so much and i was so worried!.. reality was it has been one of my most comfortable runs!... Mad eh!.... and the app has prepared you so whilst it sounds alot you are actually doing less, in total than the last 3 runs (w4r3 and the first 2 of w5) They total 31.5 mins and 31mins and this one is only total 30 mins (tho granted 20 of it is running)......
I would repeat the 3rd run but slowly! Look up Japanese slow running to help inspire you. And just so you know - everyone feels threatened by running 20 minutes straight but it feels amazing when you do it!
I have not heard of Japanese slow running, but will check out . Thankyou
We are in the same place!! I would repeat , in fact I just posted about repeating it now, I did the first one (20mins) quite comfortable, slowly and breathing nicely, then she tells us to repeat to bed ready for week 6 so I did a 26 min jog day fore yest with a 3 min gap in between, then today repeated the 20 min run and it was yuck! So def repeat until you can comfortably finish the 20 mins in my opinion x and how nice you have something to achieve together as a couple! I’m a sole runner nice and early so no one sees me sweat hah
Yes, always repeat if you walk in a run section. (And, equally, don't if you maintained a running motion throughout a running section and a walk throughout a walking section - no matter how slowly, no matter how horrible)
It's great that you so obviously understand the point of the programme. You understand why this happened in your case and that's not going to be the case next time you do the session, so you can be very confident. Might be worth reviewing strategies for sustaining a running motion when it gets tough - slowing down, smaller steps, long breaths out.
I am stuck on week 5 for the same reason. I missed the bit that said it was 3 different runs and ended up doing 8 minutes on run 2 thinking I was doing 5minutes. Because of this I challenged myself mentally to do the 20 minutes on run 3 and I did it at a very slow jog.
I missed a few days after that then tried repeating run 3 and only managed 15 minutes. Since then I’ve managed less and less trying to repeat runs so I can conquer the 20 mins again before starting week 6.
So I totally understand . I’m just going to keep repeating week 5 until I manage 20 mins again then move onto week 6. But if you only walked for a minute you may be ready with a bit of luck. Good luck
Just have another go. It sounds as if you can do it! I did an extra run in a couple of the weeks because I didn't feel ready to progress to the next week and it certainly helped.
Thankyou so much everyone , you are such a brilliant community 💓 We did it tonight , slow and steady . Tonight was the first time we had run this week, as had work commitments etc , so need to get back into a regular routine . It was definitely a case of mental preparation. So again Thankyou 🙏 Roll on week 6 🏃♀️🏃🏻
