Fat, unfit and complete beginner!

I started C25K on 21st June and couldn’t even run upstairs! I knew I had to do something about my fitness as I’m getting older with aches in my knees and ankles.

I started out on my first run and couldn’t run for the whole 60 seconds! BUT I did find that I enjoyed the feeling afterwards, and the sense of achievement of actually starting to make a change. I also found myself looking forward to my next run!

I struggled to complete the 3 minutes of running on week 3 so I repeated a run again before I moved on to week 4.

I have just completed W4R1 which I was dreading the 5 minutes running.... but I actually did it! I am so pleased with myself!

I have more faith in myself now, and can’t wait for my next run!

I’ve gone from having very little exercise to doing something most days, even if it’s just a short walk!

I haven’t lost any weight up to now, but I am losing inches, which is great!

How’s everyone doing?

Fantastic work - I found W4R1 such a buzz :)

Thank you! It seemed such a big step from week 3 but yes, such a buzz!

I love reading posts like this, self motivation must be one of the most difficult things. Sounds like you are doing extremely well and I can;t wait to get to where you are, IMPRESSIVE STUFF

Awesome, well done you.

Feels great once you’ve conquered a run doesn’t it 🥳

Good for you. Lots of us in the same boat. Keep believing in yourself - you will be amazed how far you can go 👏

It’s good to have the support from others.... I run by myself so for others to know what I feel like is great!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Always repeat any workout that you do not fully complete.

Enjoy your journey.

Brilliant! You’re doing great! I started on 15th June. I repeated week 1 as my head wasn’t ready to move on. Today I have done week 4, run 2. It feels great! 😃🏃‍♀️

I should have been doing w4r2, but repeated one of week 3’s run so I’m a day behind. But as long as we get there in the end, it doesn’t matter! Well done for keeping it up!
