I'm a total novice runner & I'm Just about to embark on week 2 & still feeling motivated.
At 44 yrs, I'm hoping to tone up, loose a bit of weight & become fitter.
I'm doing this with 3 friends and we are all determined that we will be able to do a park run in the not so distant future.
On week 1 did 2 of the runs with my friends but we couldn't all manage the same time for the 3rd, so I ran it on my own.
Mentally I found it harder & actually didn't do the 6th minute, I walked it πbut then did pull myself together & run the 7th & 8th mins ok.
Feel pleased I stuck at it, even with the little wobble in the middle....
Has anyone any tips for keeping motivated when running alone ?
I've just seen week 2 is for 90 second runs π³ wish my luck ..... I'm going for it, straight from my night shift !! ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈ

Joffling alone is great. You get to sing and shuffle and whoop and holler at all your favourite songs. You get to cuss at things whiteout people saying 'sorry...we're you talking to me?'
Choose 6 fave songs. Load them up. Turn them up. Off you go.
I originally used a free C25K app, but could never hear the instructions with my music, it still kind of worked, since the music went quite for a moment, but I heard no voice, so had to guess. So, I then downloaded the NHS C25K podcast with Laura. That worked well, but I hated (and I mean HATED!) the choice of music, and to be honest Laura's voice got on my nerves, so last week discovered the NHS One You C25K app. This works brilliantly with either Spotify or ITunes, and you get to pick the voice, and, what's more it's exactly the same dialogue! This is now my go to! I always run alone, I much prefer it since I can go at my own pace, I don't want to talk to anyone, or effect someone else's run (too slow). I get up at 5.30am, plug in my earphones, whack up the volume, and leave the house. Perfect! Who needs running buddies!
I think right now I need the company till I get to a point t where I can loose myself in the run if that makes sense. One of work colleagues who's a decent runner ran with me today after we finished our night shift. I really enjoyed it and managed all the 90 second runs..... it wasn't as hard as I expected, feel a sense of achievement. Early days I know but I am actually feeling good for going.
I run "alone" on a busy disused railway path so I just focus on where I am going, look for wildlife, mostly squirrels and listen to random music. It's me time so just enjoy the break from all the hustle and bustle of life. Enjoy your runs.
